Dundee dreadful gameplan against minnows

275

The bottom half of the league table gives an early feel of who is likely to compete against relegation this season.  Newco have moved two points clear of the relegation playoff spot and are surely likely to consolidate their midtable position.  Aberdeen are bottom, with five defeats in seven games, but a 4-0 routing of Dundee last time out saw their first win of the league campaign.  Expect them to climb up the table.

That leaves Livingston, Falkirk and Dundee all on six points and likely relegation candidates.  The latter will do well to take a point against Celtic on Sunday.

Steven Pressley was out of management for six years before getting the Dens Park job in the summer.  League Cup defeats to Airdrie and Alloa in his first two games, which saw Dundee eliminated from the competition, put the pressure on, before a draw at Ibrox delivered their first point of the Premiership season.

A 97th minute penalty at home to Livingston produced their only win of the campaign so far.  Even then, Livi enjoyed the majority of possession and the home side putting men behind the ball and relying on counter attacks.  That’s quite a gameplan at home to a newly promoted minnow.

Brendan Rodgers will know to expect the same defensive approach on Sunday and will hope the 3-2 win over Motherwell last time out has greased the blunt attacking wheels enough to cope against a side short on just about everything.

  1. KB- I think it has already re uptake of EL packages and merchandise, IMO that’s the only reason they had a meeting last week, which was a sham

I actually agree with some of your comments about Celtic but to support football fans getting banned

from watching their team at this moment in time is wrong. The last time I looked, there was talk of ending the conflict over there! Surely better to look forward now and not back.

By the way do the green brigade support Carntyne? Or Shettleston? Or Parkhead? Do they chant “From Carntyne to the Seven Lochs ? ” Instead of food banks how about building houses for folks, like the Carter Foundation in America. It´s alright, Jimmy was a Democrat, you´re allowed to like them.

  3. So the banning of the thugs from Maccabi Haifa is anti semmetism, what next. FFs, I really do give up. The police have intelligence based info, they are seldom wrong. Fuck all to do with religion, please getta grip

Thank you for agreeing with some of my stuff.

That’ll guarantee your posts are ignored from now on. 😑

Do yo mean those lovely Maccabi fans?

Did you see the carnage that they visited upon the lovely people of Holland, only last year?

They were like the Huns of the 60’s/70’s/80’s all over again.

The confict was ended for 10 minutes to let Trump fly back out of that place.

    Then the slaughter recommenced.

Only the truth will end that genocide.

And only George Galloway will speak that truth.

    What to do?

Step one – end NATO = end all wars.

Only George Galloway will pull Britain out of always at war NATO.

    “but he didnt did he.

is it one board member ? all the board members ? what is the clip levels ? can anyone regardless of position veto a transfer ?”

Well yes, you get to the heart of the matter.

The process our CEO Micheal Nicholson describes is unworkable in any practical sense.

Yet, what we saw in the summer was a recruitment process that was not fit for purpose.

On several occasions our managers have suggested the recruitment process was not fit for purpose.

So maybe, that’s the point – we have a recruitment process that is not fit for purpose, unless the high heid yins on the Board want it to work.

i.e. Support Mark Lawwell and the dogmatic moneyball approach in the summer of 2023.

It may seem a totally bizarre explanation but oddly enough, it does explain our haphazard transfer windows.

    Hail Hail

  10. Not too many seats left for the Sturm Graz game.

Likely to be the biggest crowd in Europe on the night at approx 53,000 would be my guess.

Many new fans like my 29 year old sons 3 friends who are not regulars paying decent money for it too.

Not sure what they will make of the dirges belted out by the GB and their friends. Hopefully the manager can get his team motivated and playing well enough to engage the supporters. A home game v a team from a similar league who have a much lower valued squad.

The only guy who will doge a bullet if we don’t win will be the manager. As he was v Braga. And Almaty.

The gullible malcontents will still be blaming suits.

The celtic board have shown themselves to be poor in a number of areas regards operating the football club. They have shown themselves to be good in some areas as well. Celtic paid 12 million pounds in corporation tax for the last financial year whilst supporters were served up the selling of prize assets, awful facilities in and around the stadium and stinking pattern from the board when questions were asked of them re: ambition etc.

Celtic need to treat their supporters like valued customers. The club should be looking for feedback from customers and executing plans that align to the identified needs and wishes. That should be part of a standing agenda. The club should have 3 monthy update providing feedback to supporters

Simple: .this is what you said

Action: this is what we have done

As supporters we should expect and demand excellence from the club in every area. The club should embrace that becuase it will only improve relations and development best practice

I’ve got news for you. Charlie no longer holds the title ‘Duke of Rothesay’ a title originally bestowed upon the heir to the Scottish throne. Following his accession that role and title passed to his eldest son Edward. Who also apparently inherited the tile ‘Lord of the Isles’ (Ri Innse Gall) a title once held by Somerled, but lost I think after the defeat of James IV (who stole the title from the Clan Macdonald) after the Battle of Flodden 1513.

  13. Prince Charles Edward, grandson of Queen Victoria, was the last Duke to have his title stripped from him, in 1919.His misdemeanor, fighting on the side of the Germans !!!!!!.Seems a bit harsh.

    😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

    God save the Kaiser.

  14. Stephenbhoybhoy,

Well,Burnley does’nt think like that. You and the vast majority of the fans, even those going to support the team,,not the Board, next Thursday are wrong.

  15. If muscat is there new boss , we will need more than our present soft centres in the team . This guy will fill his team with tough nuts of that you can be certain .

    From yesterday re Brendan Rodgers.

At no time did I ever not value and credit what he did in his first 2 seasons. Rangers had bounce and energy and ambition as they emerged in the PL.

In all honesty I really don’t think they were close to the level of rangers from 2000-2012 though. The one which MON just got the better of and then WGS and finally Neil in 2012 managed to beat to the League.

  17. I know there are plenty of sad Lenny haters on here but personally delighted to see him get a good win in the Fife derby tonight. Just a pity it’s another great Celt in Barry Robson who is on the receiving end. Hope these guys and Broonie end up in the top 4 !

  18. There’s a PR team at being raged. The Times story yesterday of the £6milion January deal was laughed out of the room by BR today.

Romano taking to twitter today to talk about how Celtic are keen to keep Brendan.

Then today with the photos of queues at the store and sold out merch.

All part of a strategy to win fans over and convince others that a boycott is useless.

  19. Stephenbhoyboy

Some of what you say makes good sense. Perhaps the 3 monthly time line maybe a wee bit tight for things but at least 6 monthly and maybe better.

Not sure where you got £12m corporation tax figure from ? Would you mind sharing source as I can’t see that for last year or prior. Nowhere near that number.

  20. Just for the record, I stop reading any post once they refer to Celtic supporters as “customers”.

That said I note that the Celtic Collective have stated they will no longer be customers…

    Maybe they’ll just be supporters….

  21. Prestonpans bhoys on

This took two seconds of a Google search:

“Celtic PLC paid £12.4 million in corporation tax for the year ending June 30, 2025”

  22. Prestonpans,

Surely not.Michael assured Burnley it was no such figure.Even told him,”Ask Peter if you dont believe me”

  23. Burnley78 @ 9:32 pm,

Yes – that was the point I was trying to make.

The R2ngers that BR&CO have been up against is a different Club to the Rangers that Martin O’Neil was up against.

However, the idea that we dominated that Rangers is a myth.

In the first twelve seasons of this Century until Rangers died Celtic won seven leagues, Rangers won five.

Peter Lawwell became CEO on the 2004-05 Season, in the eight seasons we competed against Rangers before they died, Celtic won four and Rangers won four.

So I get your point that BR&CO were up against easier opposition after Rangers died but so was Lenny, Ronny and Ange.

Also although overall Martin and Gordon’s record against Rangers was good, Walter Smith’s record against Celtic was equally good – beating WGS, Tony Mowbray and Lenny.

So we need context, and trying to use the Rangerses as a cudgel to beat Brendan with does not bear scrutiny.

In fact compared to Lenny and Ronny, Brendan’s time at Celtic has been a game changer, winning trebles and doubles became the norm after 2016.

    Hail Hail
