Funny i thought he looked a bit like Maloney too

    Think its the massive shins

I agree about stokes. I rate him as a striker, but he is not a winger/inside left. If you play him up front, and create chances, he will score 25 a season inthe spl. Not sure he has the guile for Europe, but jg and SS do. Like you, I think our strikers are good … They are not the problem.

“A simple comment expressing his disappointment at such a poor decision would have sufficed …he ignored it ….”

    I don’t think he did.

He accepted it as a given (remember he will probably not even have seen it on a replay before being interviewed) and then went on to say… “even so, we have to be more clinical too”

I think my point stands- he would have got criticism for either type of comment, from posters who wanted him to make the other comment.

So long as he does not make the Tony Mowbray descent from stoic to pessimistic, he will do ok. I like the honesty he and Neil display in match analysis; I have never heard him talk up a poor performance.

Now, if we can just improve our openness at the back, I might accept that this team can be good enough. We are nowhere near tight enough yet.

    So lo

  4. Think the old Dingwallers are in for a torrid 90 mins next week, perfect storm brewing Bhoys. All these chances are going to get put away soon

I thought Forrest should have been covering the back post runner, Adam get dragged inside naturally to cover the centre when the ball is coming in from the left.

  6. Well done Dundee Utd, Jackie Mac had them well drilled without the ball and looking to win territory and chances when the space was there, they played well. Having said that by my counting we could and probably should have won the game by 3 goals to 2 a combination of bad decisions and a lack of intensity in the last third left us a little bit short and it cost us 3 points. I am disappointed but at the same time I think Bitton had a tidy game bar one pass, Emilio was our best defender, Scepovic is better than Guidetti (at the moment) and wee Griffiths was our best forward (that’s the first time I have ever said that)

    Hail Hail.

    Canamalar,

it came down the left where our winger who is really a full back was pushing too far forward too early and was caught out by yet another misplaced pass.

VVD should have moved to Dillion and didn’t and never got into a central position after stranding himself in no mans land.

Agree, Efe the bombscare that fields.

Michael Lustig is Pele, but a total wage thief.

  9. To many excuses being made about the officials the real underlying problem is with the team selection and individual players picked, certain players and we know who they are are not good enough.

  10. bigchipsuk

At the second I think AM was drawn into the centre of the goal because there was absolutely no Celtic defender anywhere near the vicinity, as it seemed there was a defenders convention in the left back position.

I would have thought that probably James. Forest should have been getting back.

  11. dr ramesh and the love potion on

    Ref and linesmen were sh*te.

We really need to start taking our chances. Dundee Utd had 4 chances and scored 2. We had numerous chances and only scored 2 (although ones was disallowed because of…).

Gordon- should have done better for both goals.

Matthews- Better overall display compared to recent performances but not good a defending.

    Efe- Nightmare. Again.

Virgil-Mixed performance. Should have scored with header. Some good passing and driving runs and some wayward passes and laziness.

Izzy-Ran himself into the ground. Some great moments as always as well as some slack ones. Cifti beat him for the second goal but it was a case of luck and strength more than anything.

Bitton-ok. Kept the ball moving and stuck to his task.

Brown- Occasionally great and kept trying to drive us forward but also some slackness.

Johansen-Random headless chicken. Awful pass partly responsible for the first goal. Runs about a lot. Occasionally something comes off for him but I really don’t think he should be a first pick. Need someone better for this position.

Forrest- Kept going, was double marked but was poor.

Stokes- was ok, positive. Should be more aware when there is a better pass on.

Guidetti-Not much service but poor and slow.

Scepovic-a couple of poor touches but great pass for Griffiths goal and had a good goal denied.

    Griffiths- brought energy and goals.

Commons- tried but slow moving the ball.

I would like to see Scepovic or Griffiths getting a chance before Guidetti.

We need to replace Efe and Johansen, get a better option than Stokes and get Lustig back playing.

  12. all this whinging about cheating, for god sake do something about it don’t go the suits will sort it once it hits pockets.

  13. Vespacide

Could not agree more on Biton and Izzy, both played very well today.

I’m not sure what’s going on in Guidetti’s head at the moment but he seems to have dropped a level. Hopefully Ronnie will give the other strikers a run of games but I doubt that until after the transfer window is over.

  14. Tricoloured Ribbon on

Ross County next week then.Cannon fodder.

Tailor made for a 3-5-2 and a Griff hat trick.6-0 to the Celts.

  15. Dexter says PAY THE LIVING WAGE CELTIC PLC on

Not just re today, but Forrest is a poor player. He shows up 1 in 5 games. He is our modern Simon Donnelly.

Surely Efe is only playing due to the thinness of our defensive squad. What is happening in the Under 21s and development squads?? There wasn’t a recognised defender on the bench today. Surely we can expect 1 or 2 defenders to be developed now and again??

    When is Lustig back??

The sieve has well and truly returned. Was looking forward to going to the Inter game. Not sure how enjoyable that will be on the evidence of today.

  16. Bigchipsuk

Aye I thought the deflection off Bitton played it’s part in Effe swiping and I thought Ciftci did well/was lucky to find the one angle through which to score although he took an additional touch to find it and then went back across the ball to find that scoring angle.

I did not form any view on second other than too much room provided but did Effe not slice the ball for the corner that led up to us surrendering territory? He did lose it a bit around about that point but also provided good cover at others.

Over the piecevI think Denya or Mulgrew should get Effe’s CB slot if fit.

  17. Neil canamalar Lennon hunskelper extrordinaire on

    Awe_Naw..,

As I said had VvD kept concentration I think off side might have been given , who knows though after that display.

I can’t blame Izzy for being out of position I think he was returning from a foray and tried to make an interception that slowed him down getting back. Stokesy was back covering but the ball came through the middle with an unlucky deflection that caught out Efe which I thought he did really well to recover from by getting in front of the cifti and hassling him

  18. You cannot change bad decisions.

But you can change the formation, starting line up and transfer policy.

    Up The Celts.

  19. Guid(etti) hidings we bring on

Armstrong playing well – looking for a big move to Ashley’s other club in Jan.

  20. I have as yet to read earlier posts.

But today’s mib have taken to us winning anything to a new level. I posted as much a few weeks back. Merry Christmas you bhoys in green.

    We will rise above.

Tricoloured Ribbon. Ross County will only be cannon fodder if we can convert the chances we make and we have not been doing that lately.Griffiths to get a hatrick that will be hard for him if he is sitting on the bench.H.H.

  22. There’s a p#sh product on the pitch and the ‘bored’ know fine well that ‘they’ll’ get away with it coz, the sheep don’t have the cojones to make them put a decent product in the dugout and, on the pitch.

Roll-up, roll-up….we’re p#sh but guess what? It dizny matter coz the huns are died so, sit back and enjoy the best days of yer lives.

The only folk who can change the dynamic of Celtic FC are the fans who pay for SB’s etc.

Are the fans up for rebellion?

Do sheep know how to rebel?

    Will apathy win?

    Or, has that ship sailed?

    Scunnered already…guid luck, bye.

  23. Someone mentioned O’Connell earlier., thought he looked not a bad player when he played earlier this season, anyone know if he has been on the bench lately.

Still need a bit of creativity and a forward moving player in the midfield to compliment SJ who usually puts in a decent shift

Biton done nothing for me today, square passing and running into trouble too often, what happened to that dynamic forward pass and move player yous have all been raving about ?

One sub today would have made the difference, Griff for Biton would have been enough.

  25. I’ve backed the manager all season as you will have noted.

    However, not without some frustration.

Guidetti was poor again today but he got absolutely no service from anyone.

Izzy was his usual, got into some great forward positions but his crossing was, as usual, poor and Efe and Matthews were dire.

Forest went past the fullback once on the outside to good effect, otherwise it was inside all day to little effect. Why?

I can’t understand why our basic passing can be so poor. It’s as if the Celtic player doesn’t see the opposition player until he’s passed the ball straight to him.

I’ve said it on here before, to get 2 goals in this league you might have to score 4 so I’m not surprised by the honest mistakes.

We didn’t create that many good chances and our final cross was usually poor.

I don’t blame Ronny for the players making poor passes or poor crosses.

But I blame Ronny for picking players who can’t pass or cross a football.

What do Collins and Kennedy actually do in their management roles?

Do they not see what we see?

Do they have any input into team selection, tactics or substitutions?

His next team selection may be a watershed moment in my support for the manager.

  26. The problem with Forrest is that when on fire he is no Bambi and terrorises defenders, which is why DU doubled up on him today. On a wider park that would not have been so effective.

When not at the top of his game or paddocked, he offers little and can get into a rut, but I can see why managers give him the nod. He can be a match winner.

Wee Jimmy had ineffective days you know.

  27. For those saying don’t blame the MIBs. Go and give your head a serious shaking. The Stefan decision was blatant cheating.

That’s not to say btw that our players are not culpable. Some were rank but we had 17 chances today to 6 for DU and 67% possession. That being the case it is obvious that we need someone to put the ball in the netti but for ffs don’t say that the MIBs decisions do not influence games when the evidence patently points to the contrary.

Away support take a bow as always.

  28. Pogmathonyahun aka Laird of the Smiles on

Disappointed with the result but not the performance. If we are going to lose to anybody I’ll take the Arabs. We should have won that today but as I always say possession means nothing if you don’t score goals. Griffiths needs to be given a chance.

As per usual there is some amount of shite spouted on this blog after a defeat, mostly by the usual suspects. As for replacing Johansen – you obviously don’t watch many games, the guy has tireless energy levels and if we had a few more players with his engine we would be unbeatable.

That’s my bit of shite for the day!

  29. iPaddy McCourt (14:48), I too used to think that ‘they’ had been given favourable cup draws, but on consideration of the facts one has to draw a different conclusion…

    Rangers, cup matches 2014-15:

Scottish Challenge Cup: 2 home, 2 away

Scottish League Cup: 2 home, 2 away

Scottish Cup: 2 home*, 1 away (*incl 5th round, not yet played)

    Celtic, cup matches 2014-15:

Scottish League Cup: 2 home, 0 away

Scottish Cup: 0 home, 2 away* (*incl 5th round, not yet played)

Rangers have been drawn at home in 6 out of 11 cup ties this season, while Celtic have been drawn at home in 2 out of 4. There is no evidence of an unnatural bias in those figures.

  30. Has there been a poorer display of officiating so far this season. Ciftci was booked after 26 seconds, he was then given a stern warning after about 11 minutes, he followed this up with a clear pull on VVD’s jersey at around the 30-35 minute mark of the first half, a clear booking offence and in his case a second card, no question.

There was another offside call in the first half, the linesman is less than ten yards away, the DU player is directly in front of him, in line, the Celtic player is in line, offside? There are no excuses for this as there are no excuses for Scepovic’s goal being disallowed.

On the playing front, our defending is not up to scratch, we give the ball away far too cheaply and far too often and make no mistake, a decent European team such as Inter Milan, will take several goals off of this defence. We had several players hiding, in the first half we tried to walk the ball into the net instead of shooting with a strong wind behind us. Yes we made chances but we don’t have the composure to put them away.

We should be beating these teams comfortably.
