    Surely if the glasgow law keepers cannot handle the situation…..why not send for the city of Manchester police…….I do believe they would relish the challenge.

    well the leagues has officially gone now although imho i thought as much after the first match against the huns

     

    but it still hurts but the real worrying factor is where to now

     

    as most would agree the squad is a shambles [who would you honestly miss if they left] so massive upheaval is needed

     

    the hope is DD is up for it because the way the club is structured if he is not we are in for a bleak spell

     

    this would not be our first but this time it was so avoidable

     

    I know many on here think this was self constructed but i can not believe this of celtic minded folk

     

    on the bright side i think the right decisions will be made and will be back stronger

    I am looking for some advice please.

     

    I am trying to establish if I qualify for an Irish passport through my Great Grandparents, who are both Irish.

     

    My great grandfather came from County Monaghan, and my great grandmother came from Ballina, County Mayo. They were born around 1875, I do not have the exact year as yet. Around the late 1890’s, after a family fall out, they moved to Scotland looking for work, and they, my grandparents and mother & father have lived in Scotland ever since.

     

    From the basic enquiries I have made to date, some of the guidance appears to contradict itself.

     

    Although to be fair I do not think I would qualify.

     

    Has anyone else been in a similar situation, or can offer my any advice please.

     

    Any responses would be much appreciated. HH

    If you can prove you have a parent or grandparent born anywhere on the island of Ireland you are entitled to an Irish passport.

    However Scotland has a population density of c60 people per square kilometre & England, which registered c100k, has a density of c275 people per square kilometre, 450% greater.

    you can only qualify for irish citizenship if either of your parents are irish citizens by birth or any of your grandparents were born on the island

     

     

    the rules dont go as far as great grandparents

    and its not the qualifying for a passport thats the question

     

     

    you need to become an irish citizen by getting registered on the irish register of foreign births

     

     

    but because of covid they arent processing requests fully just now

     

     

    and it will take 18 months or so for your application to get dealt with

    Many thank to all who have offered advice and provided links.

     

    I have read through this again and unfortunately, as I thought, it looks like I do not qualify.

     

    I may try contacting the suggested lawyer to see if they can offer me any hope.

     

    My sincere thanks once again.

     

    Have faith all. Our time will come again….hopefully soon.
