Not a fan of roamin in the gloamin but I must admit I do enjoy a good chorus of “go home ya Huns” when we are spanking the Huns, diet Huns, Dundee, Falkirk, Airdrie etc. The list could go on, but you know where I am coming from.:)

  2. Hard to see game time for Boii. Barkas. Ajeti, Henderson, Shaw Urhoghide , Soro or Karamoko, particularly if the Japanese Reinforcements arrive.

Think Karamoko will just slip away from Club at year’s end, Ewan Henderson also on final year could go too,

I think rest should go out on Loan.

  3. I will readily admit I am no great fan of Greg Taylor, although the lad has an engine and always gives his all ( probably 2 reasons why Ange likes him ), but we definitely looked more balanced defensively today.

Abada is interesting – he rarely tries to take on the full back, but he will get behind him into open space looking to receive a long pass. Jura, CCV and Rogic all found him today with that move, which really puts the opposition on the back foot, and opens up goal threats for us in the box.

“Leverkusen and Deportivo also doing well in their leagues.”

Assume you meant Betis, rather than Deportivo? And yes, I fully agree with your post. Lyon, the Orcs opposition on Thursday, have fallen like a stone in the French league. Nowhere near the team they were last season.

  5. I thought Abada & Mikey were OK today, the only player I thought was below par was James but he might have been carrying a knock.

Our Captain was outstanding as indeed was Turnbull despite missing a sitter, The Wizard well was just that a Wizard, CCV & Starfelt apart from one brain fart were commanding, Juranovic & Taylor were OK, Hart also had a brain fart but imo was the most important signing of the year,

Kyogo actually played well but missed 4 sitters, deserves a wee kick in the arse for some of the misses but I’m sooooo glad we have him,

  6. p.s Scales did very well when he came on, has had 4 cameos now maybe 45 minutes in total but hasn’t put a foot wrong,

  7. This team of ours are going places, whatever happens this season big Ange has got to get at least two seasons and I’m sure he’ll get it right. The much maligned Greg Taylor had a fine game today and in my opinion he is our best left back when it comes to linking up with Jota or Mikey johnston.

  8. As things stand, Man U only 3 points off the CL 4th spot. Will probably get there in next few games.

Amazing statistic – Man U goal difference +1, Liverpool +32.

Seethin’ G vs Fraudgers in 35 minutes.

Agree think Scales has a future at Celtic Park, he looks a confident lad. we’re slowly building a pool of players and a couple of decent signings in January will help. Keep the winning run going until then and this season could be memorable.

  10. I’m delighted to read the almost universal condemnation of the singing by our away supporters at today’s game. Decades out of date and has no place at Celtic. We have thousands of Protestant supporters as well as supporters from other religious backgrounds and none.

Roamin’ in the Gloamin’ is not only particularly offensive it is absolutely puerile and cringeworthy. The club need to address this issue as it will drag us down. Maybe a percentage of the tickets to our away fans should be withheld until it stops.

I agree about Scales . Even aside from his beautifully taken goal , his positional play , crisp , accurate passing and movement made him look like a regular starter . Credit to Ange and the coaching staff , that the players waiting in the wings can slot right into the team pattern of play .

  12. Brilliant performance today. A game that you didn’t want to end. CalMac was exceptional today.

    —-

cringeworthy is a great way to describe it

    im with you on that

    but offensive?

    to who?

is it offensive for folk to say they think its “good to be a roman catholic”

why do you take offense to that?

  14. lets all do the huddle on

for the 30th game on a row

    Rogic was MOTM

or at least should have been

    Brilliant.

    Iniquitousiv @ 2:11pm – Lol. Cheers.

We had match days last season which brought unconditional pain with not a green shoot in sight.

Nothing wrong with expressions of unconditional joy following that performance today.

    Absolutely brilliant.

  16. Let’s all

What’s the difference between F*** John Knox and FTP.

The song doesn’t concentrate solely on Catholicsm, it is insulting to reformed faith Scots.

If we ignore this, we really shouldn’t take issue with any subsequent sectarianism aimed at Catholicism

i will take my previous comment back

i was only commenting on the last line of the song

but you’re right about the preceding lyrics

  18. I am going to be a wee bit pedantic here.

In my wider experience and based on supporters I know. Many would describe themselves as non-catholic or non-denominational. Few would describe themselves as practicing protestants. Just because they are not.

An old work colleague used to give me pelters for the song book.

Wrap yourself in a tricolour and sing hateful songs on a Saturday. But wrap yourself in the duvet on a Sunday.

So young people learn nothing shocker.

  19. We seem unable to maintain any enjoyment for more than an hour or so after a win.

On Thursday it was the Kyogo goal and today it’s the songbook. We love a bit of navel gazing

  20. I bet there are few supporter busses on way down the road all upset at the songbook. Or lecturing the young team. It isn’t like that in real life.

Very easy thought to moan on a blog anonymously.

    Detective inspector tornface.

  21. Just watched the game. My Dad would have loved that. We played it on the deck. Great to watch. Pity we didn’t put away some of those chances. Still, can’t quibble after such a performance.

    Thank you, Celtic.

  22. By the way, the songbook was embarassing. Roamin’ in the gloamin, has to be ditched; it’s just totally against what Celtic stands for (AND I AM AN RC, if anyone’s interested). A couple of years ago, an IRA member asked them on CQN to stop singing IRA stuff at matches.

  23. My eyesight isn’t as it once was, struggling with the Villa – Leicester strips here.

At least the ref is noticeable

Jeez louise, some one here endorsing the songbook ie ‘Roamin in the Gloamin’, dearie dearie me!.

Big Jock Simpson, Gemmill, Auld, Wallace and Lennox …the quality street gang the list goes on.

    Wit a brasser.

  25. Enjoyed 1st half of the ladies game.couple of fine players in harkes. and chance. G

    Good goal by caitlin hayes.

    Keep it going ladies

  26. I reckon Roam in the Gloamin is now sung more because it annoys the sanctimonious and self righteous element of the support than because anyone hates Prodies.

It’s a daft song, always has been. Fans sing daft songs at the football. Who knew?

Songbook is fine. Keeps it real. If it causes Daphne Broon et all to be clutching their pearls I aint bothered.

Up to you usual standard right enough.
