I should have said the other weird scenario is that Bodo winning Europa will benefit us as it frees up another seeded place.
Ironically Athletic Bilbao winning it would benefit rangers as it would reduce the number of qualifying rounds for them. It may mean them starting a month later and only having one game to play.

An older couple from Miami sat next to us were awestruck watching the game and all the associated activity. They had never been to a soccer game in the uk and were on holiday and managed to get to this one. She asked if it was always like this ?
=====
A few years ago I attended a game in Malaga where Real Madrid were the opponents to the local club.
It was a nostalgia trip as I had last seen Real play live at Hampden in 1960 when Gento, Puskas and Di Stefano put Eintracht Frankfurt to the sword 7 3 to win the European Cup again.
Anyhoo the group next to me were Canadians and I got chatting to the lady amongst them at half time.
She asked me if Scottish football was similar to what we were experiencing in the Malaga stadium.
I pointed to the blue sky and said that in Scotland it could be shades of grey (this was before 50 shades was published).
I pointed to the green grass pitch and said that in Scotland ours tended to be more brown in the colour spectrum in the winter.
I pointed to the light jersey I was wearing for comfort over my Celtic top in February and said at home I needed nearer five layers to watch a game at home in February.
The group had just returned from a half time refreshment of beer so I explained a pie and bovril to her.
I said the contents of the pie consisted of offal too risky to use in haggis. (She must have been a Rabbie Burns fan as she knew what a haggis was.)
The Bovril I explained was made up of a strong meat extract to which boiling water was added and served in a very thin plastic cup.
This was necessary in order to keep frostbite of the hands at bay.
She looked at me disbelievingly so I told her the most amazing fact of all which was that there were long queues of supporters waiting to buy their pie and Bovril at half time!
She thanked me, probably grateful the game was about to restart and she was watching a game in Spain not Scotland.
I was just happy to have taken part in a cultural enlightening exchange.

Yes, strangely enough, a ghuy I watched the game with yesterday said he was at the game in ’81 and the only difference was the SKOL advert.
Thought Dundee United did the right thing all the way through – the £50.00 profiteering was a sad reflection of the age, the fact they could have sold them ten times over tells it’s own story.
Another bhoy I watched the game with, said Daizen had a quiet game, which relatively speaking may have been correct, yet his contribution and assists were immense.
Another season like this, he gets to dye his hair ginger and wear the No7 shirt:))

I read this morning that THREE Real Madrid players ( Including Bellingham) were SENT OFF at the end of Extra Time in last nights game.
Did they ALL get Sent Off AFTER the end of the match ?
The three had already been subsituted.,. They ran onto the pitch to dispute a free given to Barcelona. Rudeeger is in deep shit, he threw an object at the ref, had to be restrained by three people. He was shouting that he was going to “Kill You” at the ref.
Great game though.

It was perhaps remiss of me last week not to mention the recent success of the Morton Under-18s boys and their tremendous achievement in winning the CAS Performance League title.
I have not been around the town much, but I saw the story on social media and, believe me, any title is to be cherished at any time in a player’s career.
The boys also have a cup final to look forward to as well so, hopefully, they will get some great local support in that one when the date is confirmed.

Believe me, I scouted in the game for long enough to know that the network will be alive to what’s going on at that youth level.
There was a time when I pretty much knew every young player in the Scottish game and a few down south as well.

I remember Tommy Burns calling me up and asking me to come and see a teenager called Aiden McGeady as he wanted an opinion and, equally, it was Neil Lennon who brought my attention to a certain Callum McGregor when he was just a prospect – and look how it worked out for them!
And yet, when I look at the Celtic Academy set-up now, I wonder if we will see their likes again.
When I was 16, I was thrown into a training game against the great Billy McNeill. The European Cup winner was in his 30s by then, but he knocked me about silly for 90 minutes and, as he told me later, did so on the express orders of Jock Stein.
Stein said to my father that I would have to become a man quickly if I was going to play professionally.
It seems to me now that big clubs up here nurture young talent and sell them on for a fee before they get the chance to play first team football.
Derek Johnstone scored the winning goal in the League Cup final for Rangers at 16. Paul McStay won his first title at 18. If you were good enough back then, you played.
The Morton support will want to see the next Neil McNab or Derek McInnes come through and cement a place in the starting 11, but the game has changed.
I haven’t seen Cameron Keay play but, there appears to be a lot of light on him just now and Dougie Imrie is right to want to protect the boy from over-expectation.
Cameron Keay is the new name on the lips of many a Morton fan.

I can guarantee you that the lad will be on the radar both north and south of the border, though, as that’s how it works.
The temptation for a shot at a big club is always palpable, and has been since the gladiators fought the lions.
As my old dad used to say: “If you want loyalty – buy yersel’ a dug!”
It may come down to the deal on the table or the boy himself and any other of his title-winning teammates.
Good luck to them all and, especially in the cup!
