Jobo, VVD has been a good signing. He wants away and the board are happy to take the cash. It’s the fans that pay the gate money that are being lied to.
0 spend on transfers. Wage bill will be down. 20 million in in transfers.
No striker and 1 first team centre half. Short at left back, midfield shocking.

I think most of us recognise that trading players is a central element of Celtic’s business model.
We bring in around £50M per year from domestic football, but have a cost base in excess of £60M.
Half the time Champions League income makes us highly profitable, in other seasons, we lose a ton. Selling players at a profit is a valid and important part of the business, and we are geared towards that.
Essentially, any prospective player is sold on 3 things:
Playing for Celtic – a bigger club with a better wage than the one they’re at
Playing in European football – something they’ll get near enough every season
Playing in the ‘Shop Window’ – do well and get a lucrative move
Problem is, we’ve sold all the stock, and there’s very little left. Virgil’s going it seems, leaving who? Commons? 31 years old. Last year of his contract. Small beer.
Nothing to sell, and in the meantime, nothing to look at.
It’s not a great story is it.
Given the business model, the very worst thing you can do is screw up recruitment. The window closes in 36 hours. Surely Celtic are working hard on bringing in a considerable number of talented players.
Surely?

The item on PL in today’s Herald makes interesting reading.
In it, Peter falls marginally short of proclaiming that Celtic simply cannot live without THEM. He implies that over the piece, THEIR absence has cost Celtic around £3,000,000.
Cynics like myself would retort that such a shortfall could have been made up if, in recent seasons Celtic had not failed so abjectly in domestic cup competitions at the hands of clubs with vastly inferior sources.
The tone of the article should dispel any foolish notions that Celtic will be party to any train of events that will damage THEIR return next season.
According to Peter the present less than satisfactory situation is down to managerial transition.
Perhaps starting with the departure of Mjalby, Peter might like to tell us exactly what has brought about the present period of transition.
Although it may be premature, it appears that in the case of Virgil, Peter is getting ready for the old ‘money in too late to spend’ trick.
I would have played Balance sheet as the main striker mind you.
The spin from the clappers will be fun.
