A clear example of trying to convince the Huns of the lowest figure that they could come up with in order to attempt to lessen the on going pain of the Manky Mob.

What figure would the come up with if this was a Huns player involved ?????

  5. We might be getting a wee slice of 75 million from the resale of one of our x players but just how rediculous is football in England and the elite football nations getting with the immoral amounts of money being thrown around buying and selling players. Yeah we are happy to get our wee slice that’ll keep our club well ahead of the rest here in North of Englandshire. Fortunately our club will spend it wisely on a couple of players (maybe?).

It’s also nice to rub it in the faces of the Huns too as they implode at the thought of the cash generator.

But overall it’s still immoral the cash being thrown around in football around the elite clubs while services of a social nature are being underfunded. If our government had a moral backbone and a social conscience I’d suggest a 25% tax levy on player sales but given the money in the current climate would be plundered on strengthening the richest in our communities and cutting the legs of our most needy there really is no point.

Celtic delighted as Anthony Ralston signs new contract extension

By: Paul Cuddihy on 28 Dec, 2017 09:40

CELTIC are delighted to announce that Anthony Ralston has signed a new four-and-a-half-year contract with the club, which will see him remain at Paradise until at least the summer of 2022.

The 19-year-old made his first-team debut against St Johnstone at McDiarmid Park in May 2016, coming on as a substitute in the game. And the following season, he got his first start, also against St Johnstone, in a 4-1 victory at Paradise at the start of May this year.

This season, as part of Brendan Rodgers’ first-team squad, he has made seven first-team appearances, including a Champions League start against Paris Saint-Germain at Celtic Park, while he also netted his first goal for the Hoops in a 5-0 League Cup win over Kilmarnock.

He’s also had to deal with an injury setback, but is now back training on the road to full fitness, aiming to play his part in the remainder of the 2017/18 campaign, and beyond into the years ahead.

Speaking exclusively to the official Celtic website, the Hoops defender said: “It’s a great feeling to sign with the club I’ve been with since I’ve been young. This is where I want to be and I want to start playing more games. I’ve enjoyed getting a taste of it and I’m looking forward to the future.

”It’s great, with the length of the contract, to have that out the way and I can focus on the football side of things. It’s a great feeling and I’m delighted.

“There are so many ups and downs that come with being a footballer. I’ve enjoyed the experiences I’ve had up to now. With the injury, it’s just one of these things that happen and it’s how you come back from it.

“But it’s been a good start for me in my career and signing the contract now, I’m just looking forward to getting on with my football over the next few years.”

Anthony Ralston is one of a number of Youth Academy graduates who have progressed into the first-team, joining the likes of James Forrest, Callum McGregor and Kieran Tierney as top-team players.

And he explained that the manager’s willingness to give young players a chance is a real motivation for all the Academy Bhoys.

“It’s great and that’s what the gaffer does,” he said. “It gives the young boys a lot of hope coming through that they can get the chance if they work hard. It’s great to see players coming through and hopefully there’s a lot more to come from me in the years ahead.

“For 2018, I just want to get my head down, work hard to get back to full fitness and kick on with the football, but signing this new contract has definitely been the best Christmas present!”

  9. Dallas Dallas where the heck is Dallas on

Great news about Anthony Ralston signing a new contract, he has impressed me any time I have seen him play .

It woukd be great once he is back to full fitness , he gets to start in some of our games.

Catman, that is some amount for the sell on clause, almost as much as Southampton paid us for Virgil.

  10. i'vehadtochangemyname on

What a monstrous bubble the epl is – the 10 mil ish is very welcome of course and a great bit of business

  11. Catman, almost as much as the original transfer fee as Dalas Dallas mentioned!

Astonishing amount of money for a sell on clause.

Vulgar amount of course for a football player.

But I’d rather we got it than not, it’s the way of the modern world.

  12. I see huge humpings for the huns being mentioned .all i can say is i hope so , but we will need to be better than we have of late . Its only a couple of weeks ago , we got a taste of our own medicine , and if anyone was watching last nights game , they will have seen how poor a team the diet huns are . Unlike last season we cant put our money on a straight celtic win , were not as good as we were last season . Add on the dyed in the wool bluenose in charge , and things may not be as cosy as we think . I hope it is 5.6.7. But one more than them will do me . HH

  13. Morning all

I do not know if this will be my last post of the year or not – hopefully a wee celebratory one on Saturday post match but otherwise this will be it.

Wee Luca is a bit up and down at the moment but what ails him is nowhere near what we feared on Tuesday morning. He will be fine but he has not had a great Christmas.

Kind of glad to see the back of 2017. The first half of it was terrific – how easily is that forgotten by many? – but from the point we drew Linfield it has been bumpier than I thought it would have been.

The Linfield game at Celtic Park was not an enjoyable occasion and not because the team looked a bit rusty. The Green Brigade got the slating because of a (not very good) banner but the atmosphere was putrid away from them- a real step back into the past. The subsequent unveiling of the Jimmy Bell song suggests to me we have a lot of people who would rather keep it bitter. Hating anyone is not why I support Celtic but there is still a lot of it about. Justifying hatred by saying ‘ they started it’ or ‘they are worse’ does not excuse it- it merely shows we can sink to levels we should not. I do though remain convinced that our support contains far more that is good than bad and trips to Sunderland and Munich were highlights of my year despite the result in the latter.

The team and manager were almost faultless last season but have looked much more human this time so far- although at times such as the home game versus Astana, the game at Pittodrie and the second half last Saturday we played at least as well as last season whilst the home game versus Bayern saw us produce our best performance against a quality team for years despite the result.

However a lot of the players have looked tired and others have failed to reproduce last term’s form on more than isolated occasions. Brendan did, I think, make a mistake in not strengthening the central defence in the summer and he has perhaps shown too much faith in some of 16/7’s heroes but mostly he seems to me to get it right far more often than not. I retain my absolute faith in him but the right to express my opinion if I think he boobs.

For me 2017 was poisoned not by some ignorant daft boys (been there done that) or a stinky show v Anderlecht earlier this month but by the extraordinary reaction of the footballing powers to the Supreme Court verdict in the EBT case. I do not consider myself to be unduly naive but I did think that even the Scottish football authorities would do rather more than shrug their shoulders and then say they can do nothing. I do not like bitterness for bitterness’ sake but I will, I suspect, remain bitter towards those who run the game here for the rest of my life.

Anyway I hope the wee fella’s recovery gathers pace and that this is not my last post here for 2017. If it is though – see you on the other side.

  15. New Year, New Resolution!

    Stop lurking and get posting!

Those of who have been around the blog since the end of the naughty’s may remember me. I used to post a lot in my “younger days” but lost the will around the time when the conversation changed from a football one to a legal one. Been an off and on lurker ever since though. Time is right to bite the bullet and start getting active again I think.

  16. Raspar Capac,

    Yep,

    A quick tot,

    Aberdeen 79, 83, 84. Three times in 50 years.

Dundee Utd 82. Once in 50 years.

Previously other winner was Kilmarnock in 1964 to 1965.

Celtic 26 times winners in 50 years.

    Deadco = 20 times***

***Discount whatever you like for Deadco cheating.

Cheating bought an illusion of success until the liquidation and death of Rangers. The Nine in a Row of Murray is a stain on the integrity of Scottish Football.(Celtic only came second a couple of times…but we had our own difficulties and an unhelpful bank manager…Interestingly if Murray hadn’t been allowed to cheat to Nine in a Row, there would be a much healthier spread of Champions, Aberdeen came second five times, Hearts and Motherwell once).

Many supporters, including my son will attend the ‘Old Firm Derby’ but unless there is some attempt to quash the lie that Sevco have won 54 Titles and the Res 12 matters are pursued then the whole thing is just ‘It’s a Knockout’ for me.

The Murray years and the subsequent jiggery pokery to dump the debt and laugh in the face of decent football supporters can’t be whitewashed by the very creditable efforts of Brendan Rodgers and the players. What we are being asked to accept by the Plc, SPFL and SFA is unacceptable.

I just can’t take it seriously.

Since Murray and the death of Rangers it”s a one horse race…until the ‘punter’ gets fed up….Or until Celtic blow it or the powers that mix things up…

Apart from that, it couldn’t happen again given the structural changes and transparency now in place in Scottish Football…;)

    Thanks for your clarification.

£12.4m is an incredible number probably more than the actually sale price. Do you know if that is due to some kind of performance bonus or is it just simply the sell on percentage is higher than the 15% profit number that has been reported?
