Dunfermline statement on Rangers

1133

This evening’s announcement by Dunfermline Athletic that they no longer expect to receive timely receipt of the £80,000 ticket money Rangers FC PLC (in administration) owe them will heighten concerns at Inverness Caledonian Thistle, who have a stock at tickets with Rangers right now, money for which will be received by the administrators in advance of their game later this month.

The administrators have yet to decide whether to retain high-earning players or make more funds available for existing creditors, and future creditors, like Inverness.  As ticket sales for the Inverness game are on-going, the administrators will need to be aware of their legal position before retaining a premium squad.

One final push (this week) for the Vanessa Riddle Appeal. We have a Celtic top signed by the first team squad available to auction on eBay. You can bid on the auction and help send Vanessa for the treatment she needs by clicking here. Thanks to Penfold for the donation and to Taggsybhoy for organising (yet again).

  1. Chaps, just a wee warning, although I am sure you all have the awareness of this possibility.

Was listening to a few members of the darkside fans speaking earlier tonight. Guys I know that are real staunch darkside fans. They were absolutely raging with the developments, egging each other on and making situation worse.

I could quite easily envisage a Manchester riot 2 this weekend coming especially with drink involved.

Just make sure you look out for yourselves and each other.

    These are dangerous times.

My sabbatical from newspaper writing has been cut cruelly short by Rangers FC. I return in The Scotsman tomorrow and in the Sunday Herald.

it is just slightly less than 3/1. If my bet came in I would get £75 back meaning £55 profit, but, watcing it, seems more chance of Van Persie joining the currants as me collecting anything!

  4. Paul67,

What’s your gut feeling Re that will happen, newco, same old or something else?

Also, wonder what P Lawwell was hinting at the other day (13th Feb) when he said this, any clues?

Asked if the SPL’s sanction – a 10-point deduction from any club which enters administration – would be enough, Lawwell would only say: “It would be inappropriate to comment at this moment but we do have strong views on this.”

  5. enjoying my first post administration booze and cigars.

I am an infrequent poster on here and probably most of you scroll on by, no problems. I do feel the need to comment and pass on my thanks for the great work many of you on here have done on exposing the lies from the LL over tha last 5 years. I post more often on Maleys and am happy to be amongst the less well informed group of Celtic fans, but we are all still Celtic to the core.

My enjoyment at the state of that lot is only tainted by my fears(expressed on here) that the brotherhood will keep them alive and in a healthy state. the comments from Yorkston are of no surprise to me, he is a tit, plain and simple, just a bag of wind and piss of no consequence. However he is a benchmark for the majority of SPL chairmen, MSP`s and local “coonsillurs” who hold sway in this wee festering country we live in.

We should be wary of the golf club/bowling club commitee mentality which runs this country. I also saw McBride QC on Sky, I am no fan of his however he gave it laldy to the clueless suit at SKY, well played. The truth we all know, needs to be aired on UK wide screens , this crime:I do not use the term loosely, is a national disgrace. As for Salmond , a slippery wee man who says the right things at the right time, let`s see where he nets out. No pun intended.

  6. just watched paul mcbride on sky news there . i wish the interviewer had asked him if it was common practice to have the same people who helped you in the takeover to act as administrators. I think there is something not quite right with this appointment . Paul dont suppose phil is looking into this matter. And as far as yorkston and masterson goes , did we really expect them to go against ra gers .

As regards the question of redistributing trophies won by the huns due to their financial cheating, I think there are two seperate issues here.

In terms of the League championship each year, it is simple. Change every hun result to a 3-0 win for the other team, and recalculate the league table based on that. Every other result for that season(i.e. hibs v. hearts, and Dundee Utd v. Aberdeen, etc) stand.

I have no doubt this would mean Celtic won the league for each year of the financial cheating, but without calculating each table I do not know.

In terms of cup competitions, it is not as straight forward.

Take the 2008 Scottish Cup. The huns beat Queen of the South in the final, so some logic would dictate that QoS should be awarded the cup.

However, the huns should have been papped out at the fourth round stage, which meant East Stirling should have progressed to round 5 to play Hibs instead of the huns. The winners of that would have played Partick thistle in the quarter final, and the winner of that would have played St. Johnstone in the semi final.

So East stirling, Hibs, Thistle, St. Johnstone or QoS – who won the cup. Impossible to say. Some logic would say out of that lot, Hibs, but then we all know their Scottish Cup pedigree.

Cups will just have to be withdrawn from the huns and left un attributed. Shame for all those teams who went out to try to win them honestly.

  8. ItaliaBhoy,

Alex Salmond has no principles? Agreed – so in what way is he different from other politicians?

I think the lack of immediate action by the administrator is a good sign. It means they don’t have a clue what to do. The deluded are still kidding themselves on that its some sort of timeout then its carry on as normal.

Strong assurance that the Club will emerge from administration and liquidation is extremely remote

re·mote (r -m t ) adj. re·mot·er, re·mot·est 1. a. Located far away; distant in space. b. Hidden away; secluded: a remote hamlet. 2. Distant in time: the remote past. 3. Faint; slight: a remote possibility; had not the remotest interest. 4. Far removed in connection or relevance: a cause remote from everyday concerns. 5. Distantly related by blood or marriage: a remote cousin. 6. Distant in manner; aloof. 7. Operating or controlled from a distance: remote sensors.

notthebus. If there is any accuracy in the message from the administrators and he is really confident that they will come out of administration and liquidation is unlikely there is something going on behind the scenes that we dont know about ? However,I think its more posturing the want a big crowd for Saturdays game so its not a good idea to tell the bears that there team is toast.H.H.

As I understand it HMRC are only after £9m at the moment. The potential £50m plus wouldn’t affect them in getting out of this administration. If Whyte has been artificially running up the debts to himself, he can control this administration. He has to hope a negative tax case result doesn’t come out before he pulls whatever dirty trick he has in mind. The £50m could be taken off Rangers on the other side of a CVA but not on the other side of a liquidation.

  15. The Administrators need cashflow to keep things going ie they need to sell tickets.

    How do they sell tickets?

    do they

    (a) tell the fans everything’s going to be OK or

    (b) tell the truth?

    BloggerfkasGM…

HMRC cannot allow a situation like that to be agreed surely? It’s an open invite to businesses to evade tax knowing they will probably get off with it…

    share

Yes but Salmond is trying to get them to be reasonable.

  19. So the administrator says everything will be fine? My question would be what’s changed?

All of the debts they had last week are still there – with the addition of one for the administrators themselves. There is no increase in income or, as yet, any reduction in costs. So what’s changed?

HMRC holds the key to this. The money they are owed is small beer in the overall scheme of UK tax income. The message they want to send out is the important one – pay your tax or else, because football clubs are not above the law.

  20. While fascinating listening to the chatter of journos and politicians…

What is more revealing is the modus operandi from the heart of the darkness, rangers Media, Blues News etc. The Official line from there is a desparate plea to man the barricades. They realize the immediate danger. No crowd. No cash flow… Their pleas are a desperately revealing thin blue line.

    Roll on Lindsay….

So is that the best that can happen then? Get out of administration based on 9m debt, then later have to pay pack 50m? I don’t like the newco idea much.

And I want Whyte in jail.

  22. Got to share this ……….in my local last night the greetin faced ones were telling all who were present that they had to be saved due to their illustrious history etc etc, I pointed out that the only thing they were famous for was violence, sectarianism and now dishonesty. They were furious and threatened to take this wee F***** B****** into the car park and kick his head in. You could’nt make it up….Hail Hail
