Exactly what I was thinking. No BIG decisions, but lots of little ones going against Spain. Now, I think Michael Oliver is a fine referee, but the early part of the game seemed to favour Belgium.
However, it all came good and the final-before-the-final on Tuesday can now be looked forward to with relish.

Having been asked about the benefit of the £16m to Rangers I checked my understanding of FSR and the devil is in the detail.
SCR still provides the ultimate limit but in answer to the original question of the share issue income to Rangers it does have a significance for Celtic.

That bit about the cash could be used for players was not my original understanding but it only applies to transfer fees.
If they buy a player for £10M over fives years then £2m is counted as part of playing squad costs by amortisation. To that is added the wages of that type of player which also increases their playing squad costs, but the SCR still puts a limit of 70% of football earnings as defined on by UEFA can be spent on players.
At the end of the day a player is not interested in the transfer fee if he has no cut of it in his contract and what he will want is as high a wage as he can get which pushes up the player wage bill along with the amortisation.
What is significant about that for Celtic is that if they choose not to spend more of what they can spend under the higher FSR limit we have from higher football earnings then we lose the competitive wage advantage we have that in theory allows us to sign a better quality of player than they can.
I’ve another piece drafted that provides a regulation free look at FSR in general terms that might help unfankle what looks like a fankle. ( I like that word)

I’m thinking if I understand the process correctly is that if Rangers have a bit more to spend on players Celtic can respond by spending more and banking less and a reasonable comparison can be made based on both sets of published accounts.

At last nights FAI EGM former Irish Goalie Packie Bonner, now an FAI Board director, was the strongest speaker demanding that we play Genocidal Israel, the most prominent of the 73 who endorsed the sportswashing of killing children.
So sad to see such a legacy as a player being lost in defence of an Apartheid state.
So sad to see the people’s player turn his back on the people.
Packie decided to not ruffle any feathers that might effect his income and his lifestyle, he is employed since 2006 as a Uefa Technical Advisor as well as his extremely generous FAI expenses.
He could have sent a message in support of the tens of thousands of innocent people killed by Israel, instead he waffled on about Norway playing Israel and being in the world cup, irrelevant nonsense.
Ireland refusing to play Israel in October could have been a major story around the world. But Packie and his FAI board colleagues have handed them a win, shame on them.
Packie’s biggest save may well turn out to be when he saved Nethanyahu as the war criminal faces elections just after we play the Pariah state and give them credibility as a “normal” country. It could have been so different.
Packie regularly makes money as a public speaker, he is a very recognisable public figure, you would know him in the street.
Maybe have a word with him next time you cross paths with him, some things are more important than an expense account.

Very often what appears in the media as a good idea in relation to football is in fact very often a very bad idea. So the Hun support diagnose their lack of trophies as down to a lack of staunchness and they proceed to go into staunch overdrive , Devlin being the latest example.
Seemed to me that the Huns problems were primarily a very slow (at full back) and disjointed defence ( at centre half) , coupled with a shot shy attack. Rohls mad-cap tactics of booting the ball forward and fighting for 2nd ball was meat and drink to most Scottish teams.
In summary, the much lauded changes at the Hun will be a car crash just when the clocks get pushed back , Jambos will actually play better football but their jammyiness of last season can’t persist and they’ll finish a comfortable 3rd.
Lastly , on the Hun there could be some serious thrashing in Europe , I’m convinced these American blokes have not the 1st clue about football.
I’d put a spare fiver on a treble for us this year. We need the full backs pushing up with a holding midfielder (not Calum) covering , to get us moving forward in a more coherent manner.
