Camilo Duran (24) joined the campaign for six-in-a-row this morning and is the most welcome news Celtic have had since the epochal events of May. It has been eight weeks since he played, but he is young and does not look to be carrying much in the way of excess timber, so the three-week run up to our opening fixture of the campaign should be enough to get ready.
Champions League goals last term against Benfica, Ajax, Eintracht and Newcastle raised his profile. By contrast, he scored in only six Azerbaijani league games (10 goals in total), as Qarabag lost only their second title in 13 years.
Every transfer is a risk and this looks like the right level of risk for Celtic. We are never going to acquire a player who has consistently established his credentials, we need to select from a small sample of positive signs. The player has shown what he can achieve at the top level, it is now up to the club to develop him.
Welcome to Celtic, Camilo.

World Class as always:
Martin O’Neill has opened up on Celtic’s appointment of Ross Grant as the club’s new set-piece coach.
He said: “I don’t know whether we headhunted him. I think his contract was up. Mark Fotheringham knows him and I think when it became available, I wanted to do it. And with Gavin Strachan leaving, it opened up a spot for that.”
