Can we purge all negative overtones today, make sure we start tomorrow with a clean sheet? Injuries and suspensions are part of the game, we accept them and plan how to win important games.
Celtic are at their best when they are up against it, when everyone knows that nothing short of a herculean effort is required. This is the case tomorrow. The requirement is straightforward enough: win your personal battle, inhibit one of the best teams we will play this season, take control of midfield and find spaces in the Ajax defence to exploit.
We have more than enough players bursting to set about this task.
Ajax had a taxing game on Saturday, scoring late to secure a draw away to top of the table Twente. Although fourth, they are one of six teams no more than two points off the pace in what is currently one of Europe’s tightest leagues, but there is a fragility about Ajax.
The game against Twente was their first away match after a run of four home games, three of which were won comfortably, while they were denied a win against Milan by a ridiculous penalty in added time. Their away form, however, has been less than impressive; they are still waiting for their first win away from the Amsterdam ArenA this season. As a result, they travel to Celtic Park with the same trepidation they travelled to Groningen, Heerenveen, Twente, AZ, Barca and PSV, a series of games which returned three draws and three defeats.
Dutch media have also been reminding them of a quirky record to maintain. While Celtic eliminated Ajax the last twice the teams met in European Cup/Champions League duty, the Dutch avoided defeat on both games at Celtic Park. For us, this is a meaningless fact, but it is an added burden of expectation on Ajax.

The capitalist, I say, is a parasite on industry…
The working class is the victim of this parasite – this human leech, and it is the duty and interest of the working class to use every means in its power to oust this parasite class from the position which enables it to thus prey upon the vitals of Labour.

If you find St Stephens Cathedral in Stefanplatz 3 and keeping the Church on your right walk down the main drag which I think is Rotenturmstrade heading towards the river, there is a Sports Bar a few hundred yards on the right where I watched Celtic during a mis-timed Holiday.
___
I know the St Stephens, I saw a Paddy O’Brien’s Pub walking round on Sunday, don’t know if the game is on there though. I’m here working, but do want to return, since one day sight-seeing is not nearly enough.
=====================================================
If you Google St Stephens the map which comes up will also show Charlie P’s which some guys referred to,although its up at Roosveldtplatz and Sigmund Freud Park if I recall.
“I think that Mr Minogue is almost unique”
So said Jim Wallace MSP, Justice Minister, 04 March, 2003, in evidence to the Justice 2 Committee of the Scottish Parliament.
Mr Wallace’s views were enough to convince the committee that no one else in Scotland was concerned that there was an apparent conflict between a judges Masonic and judicial oaths. The committee then closed Mr Minogue’s public petition lPE306.

Foodbanks: a national disgrace. Many seeking their help are signposted their by government offices, who have sanctioned people already on the minimum needed to live.
We have a Tory government, just gearing up. This time workers have few defenders. Most Trade Unions have been neutered and/or taken over by groups with alternative agendas, not their membership.
Wee change of topic bhoys and ghirls.
I have just received a reply to my email to the Justice Secretary re the bigotfest at poundland. Its from a senior beaurocrat and says that the police and army are investigating and that the Scottish Govt abhors sectarianism blah, blah.
Move along, Timmy, it’s being sorted.
ammended,,,its being swept under the already bulging carpet.
I thought I had posted this earlier, I want to return my proxy form for the AGM. They want to know who will be using my proxy…..what name shall I put in box?
Thanks
if it wasn’t for wee Danni wee Kylie Minogue would be almost unique.

can anybody see any moral obstacles to me using a picture of our hero on my profile in my new gmail account
To the CQN’rs who understood what I was trying to say, thank you.
The debate about minimum wage and liveable wage is quite interesting because unless it has escaped peoples attention the government (any) only raises the bar to pull more PAYE people into the next higher tax bracket. Ask your economics teacher or accountant.
To the CQN’rs who disagree with me about your labour being worth what someone wants to pay for it…….ask yourself why Doctors, Dentists, Engineers et al earn more than any 2.2 Sociology graduate working in the public sector.
If the numbers don’t add up we end up skint and need to go cap in hand to the IMF a la Callaghan and Healy in the early 70’s. Print more money and we end up like Argentina.
We have no serious shipbuilding to talk of anymore not because the ships were badly built but because they were too expensive…….the customer bought cheaper elsewhere.
What would the Celtic Socialist Workers Committee have us do, buy domestically produced product at gunpoint regardless of cost?
It is what it is……

Just logged on, and having read back, may it respectfully suggest, that in future you research you subject, before subjecting all on here with your ‘witterings’!
If you really want to know how much Celtic pay their staff,( not that it is anyone’s business),
just ask !!!

Made me laugh………sometimes less is more :)
Hi all first time poster long time lurker.Getting back to Easter Rd on Saturday, the rough treatment dished out by Hibernian that went unpunished by the officials and the Celtic players was unbelievable. I watched a game in Seattle a few years ago Celtic vs Man Utd,a young Man utd player took a liberty with a Celtic player,we got a free kick.About 15 minutes later Chris Sutton flattened the United player.Instead of rushing over to confront Sutton the Keanes,Beckhams etc could be seen smiling .they all knew at some point one of the mature pros in the Celtic team were going to give him a message. Scott Brown was handcuffed and will be for a long time he is in the spotlight right now ,some of the other guys are going to have to step up to the plate and let teams know that you do not mess with Celtic.I love reading CQN keep the Celtic news coming it really helps the overseas Tims keep up with what is really going on.

LOL………nanananananananana, LL
Totally off subject bhoys but I don’t suppose anyone on here can reproduce the poem that was posted some years ago about ” shug the dug”?. I can’t even remember the poster who wrote it but it was brilliant. Long shot I know, but if anyone has it I’d be very grateful. If anyone has it, I’ll print it this time and keep a copy.
Thanks in advance.

Mihal @ 1448,
Looks like I’m talking to myself here.
Everyone seems to want to discuss the theories of remuneration, not the actualities.
Lots of political posturing and pointless rhetoric without a single acknowledgement of a guy doing the job.
I’ll be serving your pints or pies tomorrow night, giving up 7 hours and missing the game. For a net total of 22 quid.
My choice. My need.
God forbid you should speak for me without listening.
UNITE say 65% reject Grangemouth blackmail deal.

Many thanks for your Milton Freidmanesque economics lesson. Is it only poor skint bankers thet can go cap in hand to the state and ask for assistance when the market collapses?

A dozen nurses or 1 EPL footballer. Yes it is a dilemma.

STV news ( Edinburgh ) show the McGivern assault on our young full back and also
Rowan Vine rugby tackle on young Darrell and said for which the Hibs man was
booked
He was NOT booked not even spoken to by ref. Murray. THAT is why NFL was angry
What is it with these media people when they cannot get the facts right
dbbia – v funny
óglach – this is off message and leftfield- I’ve been looking for a bit of commentary/analysis of the ‘corporal killings’ from a recent republican perspective – any ideas or pointers ?
Greandreamz
Your same reasoning was forwarded by the tories for years when the refused to implement a minimum wage. Companies everywhere would go bust….well it didn’t happen. What really happens with poor paying jobs is shite employers are subsidised by the tax payer in the form of tax credits. Whilst they move their profits overseas to MINIMISE their TAX

Seems you were right, again.
Let me also take this opportunity to remind CQNers you were one of three other people who joined me in Glasgow to get the signatures we needed to get Resolution 12 onto the AGM.
Just saw NFL on TV…Feeling quietly confident about tomorrow night
