Early stats point to Sviatchenko effect

623

Well done to everyone for the win against Morton. After a difficult week it was good to get the result sorted out before halftime. Fixing poor form is seldom a straightforward business, but yesterday’s win was our sixth game in a month, with the loss of only one goal in that period.

The five games before this run didn’t produce a single clean sheet. Erik Sviatchenko started only the last of those five games (at Pittodrie), so while the sample size isn’t enough to draw clear conclusions, it’s an early indication the Dane has tightened things up at the back.

One thing Erik hasn’t been able to do is turn Celtic into a team which looks like it knows how to defend a corner kick. A Morton corner fell into the six-yard box to an attacker’s foot (never mind head). We’ve seen dozens of these horror-show set-pieces this season. They have cost us in the Champions League, Europa League, League Cup and in the Premiership. The Scottish Cup is the only tournament we’ve got away with it, so far.

You are I are beyond despairing at this point, let’s just get it sorted, Celtic.

  1. i enjoyed the game yesterday, thought Johansen and Mc Greggor made the midfield more compact, well done leigh, well done the team,i would like to see a little more pace in our defence. it was good yesterday that the only time you heard any hun exhalation was when collum ignored Johansens injury at half time

CANAMALAR IT LOOKS LIKE OCD OBSESSION on 7TH MARCH 2016 1:40 PM

I see our old firm fans are getting the boot in first, making out it is their duty to support Celtic more against the new club than any other club.

The only people that will be at hampdump will be old firm supporters, glory hunters and self aclaimed uberfans.

The glory hunters and ignorant will fill the stadium anyone else is old firm and uber, it’s that simple.

Shit about standing shoulder to shoulder with the team is just that, shite.

The club needs to make a statement, those that consider themselves to be the club need to make this last chance to for a statement count. Else they buy into old firm.

    ……………………………………..

Absolute pish, O Wise One. Oracle and holder of the knowledge on all things relating to Celtic and supporting Celtic. You speak with such authority, such self belief but you’re still talking pure pish.

I’ll be there to support Celtic if I get a ticket and the game doesn’t clash with a more important family event. I’m not a glory hunter nor am I ignorant of the issues. I’m not even a self-proclaimed uberfan nor a believer in the OF.

I’ll be there to support Celtic simply because I would not abandon our players to a stadium that would be filled with 46 thousand currant buns screaming abuse at our team if all Celtic supporters were like you. It might well be a different turd but it is most definitely the same flies.

    Two points.

    One.

I have as I said since the turn of the year attended Celtic Par once. I have fully paid for 4 season books, 3 adult and 1 child. 3 of these 4 have been used once like me and the other zero times since the turn of the year.

These 4 books will be sent back to the club before the end of the season as we may wish to attend once or twice more before we totally give up. Personally I’m gone and doubt I’ll be back unless there is a sea change attitude from our board towards this bunch of crooks running and playing in our league.

I have attended on and off (mainly on determined by affordability) since 1982. I have spent thousands attending home and away albeit rarely away since 2001 since my son was born.

I am one of those folk who as you state have offered my club nothing.

I believe I have offered my club more financially in terms of affordability over the years than they have ever offered me. I have offered my club more emotionally than Peter Lawell or Dermott Desmond ever will even if they were to both live for a thousand years.

So real your neck in and stop offering up baseless comments and groundless opinions about supporters and fans who are just pig sick of being cheated and\or do not wish to attend re-formed mince Old firm games.

If you are happy to waste your money supporting something that will soon again be fixed, watch your team being cheated weekly and all the while supported in this by our PLC then fair play to you. that is your choice.

    Two.

What have Celtic PLC to do with resolution 12 and if they are involved please let me know what it is they are doing? Otherwise leave it up to the non-Celtic directors to carry this forward without FEAR or FAVOUR and stop giving credit where it is not due!

‘Is the answer to Rangers’ death and the football authorities’ unwillingness to address their cheating, to be so pissed off with the whole charade and for supporters to disengage to the level that our club effectively commits hari-kari.’

    ###

The problem, for me at least, I don’t know about anyone else, isn’t the cheating, or the cover up, or the authorities’ involvement, it’s Celtic’s complicity in the whole thing.

It just calls into question what it is your actually supporting. It’s certainly not the Celtic that I thought I knew.

A dismissed appeal will PROVE wrongdoing, not only in the evasion of lawful tax, but in the registration of players’ contracts.

Those who constantly criticize Celtic for not ‘speaking out’ should consider these facts….and then reconsider.

I assure you my family and I since a sizable sum into Celtic FC as a PLC every year.

    =====

No, and thats my point…nobody has.

If those staying away and I’m primarily referring to those staying away from CP for the reason that they believe Celtic to be supporting the continuation myth actually took some worthwhile action, even something as small as going to talk to JPT, this may help allay fears.

Some are very very quick to ‘chuck it’ with no positive action taken, preferring to bump their gums on here day in, day out.

I think Erik will prove to be our most effective and solid defender once he gets a further rest and a pre-season behind him. He has been thrown right into the thick of things in the middle of his last post season’s rest unfit, a few pounds over his match fit weight and probably even carrying a few long term knocks from the previous season. He has a crunching tackle, reads the game well, displays common sense and is comfortable on the ball. That will do me for now.
