Early stats point to Sviatchenko effect

623

Well done to everyone for the win against Morton. After a difficult week it was good to get the result sorted out before halftime. Fixing poor form is seldom a straightforward business, but yesterday’s win was our sixth game in a month, with the loss of only one goal in that period.

The five games before this run didn’t produce a single clean sheet. Erik Sviatchenko started only the last of those five games (at Pittodrie), so while the sample size isn’t enough to draw clear conclusions, it’s an early indication the Dane has tightened things up at the back.

One thing Erik hasn’t been able to do is turn Celtic into a team which looks like it knows how to defend a corner kick. A Morton corner fell into the six-yard box to an attacker’s foot (never mind head). We’ve seen dozens of these horror-show set-pieces this season. They have cost us in the Champions League, Europa League, League Cup and in the Premiership. The Scottish Cup is the only tournament we’ve got away with it, so far.

You are I are beyond despairing at this point, let’s just get it sorted, Celtic.

Agreed. A whole host of reasons. Id say chief among these are price and a growing sense of alienation between fans and Board.. The team are a diminished version of what we have been used to. Id also say ( in common with most Scottish teams) the match day experience is terrible. Basics like toilets and food are unacceptable to most modern minded individuals.

Unrelatedly, anyone ever seen a company issue a set of interim financial statements that didn’t include a Balance Sheet, statement of Cash Flows and a set of Notes? Nothing to see here.

And on BDO’s request for leave to appeal against the CoS judgement, it is improbably that leave to appeal will be declined. Notwithstanding that the CoS was unanimous, the decision redefined a crucial aspect of law, the immediate impact of which is in the order of £5 Billion to Mr & Mrs Historic EBT User.

Both the nature of the decision, and the impact of it suggest that leave to appeal to the Supreme Court will be granted in ordinary course.

Again, people ‘jet in’ to see Celtic play every week regardless of the opposition. We’re kind of a big deal ;) I used to be one of them. Early start but not as early as the bus!

Ernie and friends of a similar persuasion – will a statement by the officials of Celtic FC to the effect that ‘Rangers’ is a new club, result in them saying “OK it’s a fair cop, we are a new club”?

    ###

No. They won’t admit it now. And they won’t admit it in the future either, whatever happens. So why confront the lie at all, at any time? Why bother?

    #####

‘Almost certainly Celtic will be in receipt of the very best legal advice on all the matters which have affected the club since the Ibrox shenanigans began’

There’s nothing certain about that. In fact I would very much doubt that Celtic will have spent money getting advice on anything, because they don’t intend to do anything, other than get the Old Firm money spinner back up and running as soon as possible. And why not? That’s where the money is.

We know the huns cheated. They’ve admitted it with the wee tax case. We know the players contracts failed to disclose remuneration. The EBT case won’t affect any of that.

There’s no valid reason not to challenge the same club lie now.

We both know Celtic aren’t going to say anything, now or in the future.

Just try to be honest about it.

  6. I used to love jetting in for a game. My favourite was a 12 o’clock flight from Gatwick in at 1 straight to the ground, then straight back to the airport for the 7pm back to London for a normal Saturday night out. Grate times.

As I said to Canamalar earlier the ‘Old Firm’ tag is highly marketable. Are you not surprised they’re not rinsing it for all it’s worth? I bet they’d still make a net income on it if they did, despite protestations from many that if they do they’re finished with Celtic.

    ————————–

Sorry Ernie, you just don’t get IT – you can forget about rules and the legal ramifications of what you do and say – Celtic Football Club cannot – I have never seen any of your pronouncements all over the press (lucky you) – anything that Celtic says would be, and subject to law – do you really want Celtic to be dragged into this? – into the courts? – how would that help us? – it would only deflect the spotlight away from Ibrox,

Remember when ‘they’ accused Celtic of ‘dodgy deals’ over Lennoxtown – Celtic said nothing…why?, because they knew that their case was sound and the law could/would prove it – of course it never got that far.

If Celtic stepped in at the present, we would see only a ‘slagging match’ – please be sensible HH

  13. Some people really haven’t been following this very well, what’s gonna happen after the appeal?. I’ve waited 4 years for something to happen, some little word from our club about cheating etc. Nothing, absolutely nothing. It will be the same no matter what happens in the end, so 4 years of blind loyalty(undeserved it seems),are coming to an end. The season books are going, and yes i’ll let Celtic know why, as well as Broadfoot and any other concerned party I can think of.

I will not do this lightly(breaks my heart), but there is no doubt what so ever that this is necessary, who wants to watch a rigged “contest”?. Oh wait, let me answer that, that will be the OF fans. Go if you must, make any excuse to yourself you must, but don’t kid us or yourselves, this helps the good ole Gers and corrupted Sfa way more than any good it does our club. Enjoy the bigotfest:).

It’s not so very long ago that “The Old Firm” was “the last remaining inventory on the shelf”. Plans were afoot to take “The Old Firm Experience” round the world, with matches to be hosted in the US, Australia, China and elsewhere.

    That was 2010.

Happily (from my perspective) the “inventory” remained on the shelf, but it was a close-run thing, and the key obstacle was distribution of revenue. Ultimately, Celtic were the box office in the US, and Rangers (for it was they) decided if they couldn’t get parity on revenue split, they wouldn’t do it.

Not so long ago, but changed days. The term “Old Firm” is proscribed in all official Celtic communications.

Whether that’s simply lip service, or indicative of a change of direction, remains to be seen.

  29. Death of Rangers

With the death of Rangers in 2012, the term should have been consigned to history. Yet due to the vested financial and political interests that resonate from the term, it was always going to be resurrected. So for the media and others the ‘Old Firm’ tag has been stamped onto any match to be played between Celtic and The Rangers zombie tribute act (Sevco).

Only time will tell how the name will linger on.
