The events of this week will be scant consolation to the bereaved of Hillsborough, but it is nonetheless important that football paid appropriate respects, as fans and clubs across England did this weekend.
When Celtic offered to host Liverpool for their first game after the tragedy they took a step to demonstrate solidarity with the people of that city. In presenting a wreath on behalf of the Celtic Movement at Anfield today, Peter Lawwell carried on the spirit of that week.
It’s often the easy acts which are the most important.
Loved the Scottish Cup semi-finals. perfect result-performance combination which allowed Super Salary, Glib and Shameless, Newco and fans of every other club in Scottish football to take something from the first game.

Justice for the 96 and quite right tae but what about the 66 in 1971 including some wee boys fae Fife and a young lad fae BC who was at the game with his stepfather, never heard about justice there considering that mob had previous tae. Mibbees it’s karma time mow.

The difference between Hillsborough and Ibrox is that, in the former, it was the authorities who lied and covered up the truth.
__________________________________________________________________________
Has been mentioned quite a few times on here, but, if you Google “Falling Masonry” the full extent of the circumstances leading to the Ibrox Disaster, are exposed. The first time I read it, I was constantly shaking my head at the Rangers board’s breathtaking arrogance. Stairway 13 was a disaster waiting to happen, and they were well warned about it.
I really need to keep up :(
You’ve got to admire Steven Gerrard’s dedication to his club. Sure he has been very well paid, but he could undoubtedly have made more money and won more honours elsewhere. And he would not have been short of offers. Instead he has stuck with his club for the whole of his career. Liverpool’s Pail McStay really.

*so who covered the latter up, there was an enquiry and libel case, disappeared both of them.

Liverpool don’t deserve to win anything, because they are cheats, and have been helped by referees all season long.
Liverpool have been awarded even more penalties than the zombies, and that’s saying something.
How many penalties have Celtic been awarded this season?
Very few, considering Celtic players are constantly in opposition territory.
Think about it.
Two weeks ago the clocks went forward 1 hour.
Yesterday, the clocks went back 3 years. Another local Orange parade, Sevconians crawling out the woodwork, and the usual sectarian songs down Govan way conveniently ignored by the media !
Anyway, well done Macnamara’s band. Got me a nice wee treble.
Sevco were there due to Cheatin Beaton and got their just desserts.
Flanigan and Allen on song today for Liverpool.
Can’t see Barca getting anything on Wed, so looking to bet Real.

For every diver a tenner?
Liverpool deserve to win the league this season ahead of big $ Chelski and Citeh. No question IMO.
Jonny the Tim,
I read that piece.
Like many (some) on here, I was at that game and read in disbelief the Sheriff’s comments re the liars of Ibrox.
TT,
Of course the matter was dropped after the Inquest, but the comparison I was making was the attitude of both clubs ; although Hillsborough was not Liverpool’s home ground.
The Rangers management fought tooth and nail to deny any justice for their own supporters, who perished, due to the negligence of the club to act on recommendations made after the previous incident.
Despicable then, despicable now, despicable always.
Well I guess Flores had to go to make the EPL the most exciting league in the England

It wasn’t an inquest, it was an action for damages.

Whateffer.
It was a case where the incident was being investigated and damning evidence was produced.
Nice wee treble

It was a widow suing for damages for herself and her young children who were left without a father, yet the club behaved the way they did.
They were rotten to the core, and at the core.
That’s part of the history sevco are hell bent on claiming.
Congratulations to St.Johnstone fc on reaching your first cup final.

and for the Ultra Pedanistas . Inquest is an english court procedure in Scotland its a Fatal Accident Inquiry

My friends in Celtic,
Very poignant thread Paul 67. Says it all really.
In passing, someone from the previous thread was last seen talking to a Camel.
Very appropriate because :- A Camel can work for a whole week without drinking.
In some occupations, A man can drink for a whole week without working.
HH.
Scottish cup.we beat them in league cup late sixties
EDB,
I never knew anything either, until I picked up my wife, on her way home from work.
“that was awful”, she said.
I thought she was referring to the last kick of the ball equaliser.
I was working in Mallon’s pub in Lambhill that night and the phone never stopped ringing, with people looking for their family members, who hadn’t gone straight home.
An horrific time.
Solatium Wage Loss and Services and its Personal Injury Compensation not Damages which is an english law term

…..and yet, they more or less got away with it.
Where was our campaigning Daily Record then,eh?
Of course we all know why it was covered up, none of the Megaphone Media took up the cudgel.
Then as now, the cabal rules and there is nothing the ordinary decent citizen or business can do about it.
It goes with the territory.
I got injured working on the QE2 and was off work for thirteen weeks.
I got £100, the difference between my wages, less accident benefit.
I also got £100, Solatium, for Pain and Discomfort.
I made the mistake of letting the Union handle my claim.
I see this year’s SC final will be between Stuart Cosgrove’s team and Jim Spence’s team.
Which team will the Ibrox hordes want to win?
I honestly don’t know why anyone bothers about nevin…. He really is an insignificant little shoite ….. now keevins…….he is an evil, vindictive, little creepy-crawly….

1969 League cup final Celtic v St Johnstone
Wee Bertie scored early 1-0.
It was the the only cup final my father ever saw at Hampden.
Come on Solatium hunnite is the most inert gas on earth?
Don’t you guys know anything?
Jeez you couldn’t make this stuff up!
I feel a wee bitty conflicted about St Johnstone winning today. Overall, I think it is a good that the trophies go round. But am I right in thinking it was St Johnstone players who stood with their hands behind their backs when our team passed through their guard of honour, when the flag was unfurled? Mind you, the Aberdeen supporters disgraced themselves by attacking our manager at Tynecastle and destroying chairs at Celtic Park. So, I hope Dundee Und win the Final.
