Easy and important acts

620

The events of this week will be scant consolation to the bereaved of Hillsborough, but it is nonetheless important that football paid appropriate respects, as fans and clubs across England did this weekend.

When Celtic offered to host Liverpool for their first game after the tragedy they took a step to demonstrate solidarity with the people of that city.  In presenting a wreath on behalf of the Celtic Movement at Anfield today, Peter Lawwell carried on the spirit of that week.

It’s often the easy acts which are the most important.

Loved the Scottish Cup semi-finals. perfect result-performance combination which allowed Super Salary, Glib and Shameless, Newco and fans of every other club in Scottish football to take something from the first game.

Celtic,Aberdeen and now Utd or Saints will all have all won trophies this season. Time to dismiss the cringe and accept the game is healthy

This must be a troubling time for the supporters of the new club. Sadly, this is just the beginning.

Don’t know about anyone else, and I am aware and support justice for the 96, but I couldn’t give a hoot what goes on in the financial doping league. Chelsea and Man City big clubs? Don’t make me laugh.

  7. The decision to give PN a platform

    was ill advised at best.

I expressed my opposition at the time.

Now i hear cqn intend giving a poster

who has rarely said a good word about Celtic

    a platform.

    Why ?

Should Sevco go into Administration ……will they be able to get out of it before the start of next season …if not then they would be subject to an automatic points deduction at the start if the season

Surely , removing all hope of promotion.

    *********

That’s the reason why they won’t go into Admin.

What I don’t understand is, if King is such a threat to the board, why are they not warning their “loyal” fans about handing over their money to a man of his proven record of dishonesty?

I can’t get past the Plan that Whyte proposed for the buying, cleansing and reincarnationg a “team, playing in blue, at Ibrox”.

    The Murray / Whyte Plan.

Nothing has been done to derail the scam, which cleared the one, real hurdle, of getting the license to play football, under the same club ruse.

The rest was just lining up the ducks until the spivs (Ticketus, etc.) got their cash out of the wreck.

    Job done.

Though I disagree with practically everything he has to say I think it was to the credit of Paul and the others to engage with him

One of the main reasons as to why the old Huns died and the new Zombies are headed the same way – is the fact that they allow absolutely no possible dialogue nor dissent from within their ranks!

Debate -as long as it stays within the bounds of decency – is extremely healthy as it makes people think and question what they are being fed or what they are used to!

Far too often the Huns silenced anything remotely critical of themselves by saying it was Tims that were out to do them down!

Well by now they should have realised where that got them!

    “G64

I think there is a massive difference between nevin and NA2, no…”

Correct, Pat Nevin doesn’t support St Mirren :-)

On a serious note, just as I didn’t read what Pat Nevin said I don’t need to read the alternative CEO, just as I don’t read the daily record.

It is easy. Everyone decides for themselves.

  15. I,m not a great lover of Liverpool had a horrible experience with them and their fans at Ian Rush testimonial just after raith rovers beat us in league cup but I,m Delighted for Brendan Rodgers good Celtic man and wants his team to play entertaining football.HH

    That’s fair enough.

But to silence someone like NA2 cos his opinion differs from the majority smacks of hunnish traits IMO.

Let him offer up an alternative, there can’t be any harm in that.

    Nevin had-has a completly different agenda, one thing NA2 has never done is stick it in to the support, he does the opposite in fact, and that is a FACT >}

The Pat Nevin debate has produced some of the most insightful and sensible posts I’ve read on the blog for a while.

So, perhaps the policy of engage and not disassociate has been successful for that reason alone.

    Well done the CQN team.

Glad to see Celtic represented at Anfield today, right and fitting twenty five years on. Right and fitting also that Liverpool won the game, though it is still a three horse race if Chelsea beat the Reds in two weeks time.

Congratulations to both Dundee United and St Johnstone in reaching the Scottish Cup final, though hope Jackie’s boys go on to win it, seem to remember them being robbed by the very Reverand McCurry in the final a few years back when Craig Levene was in charge. No prizes for guessing who the beneficiaries were!

Looking forward to the golf now, with my money, on Lee Westwood, still in play. He has improved every round, has threatened before, and this could just be his time.

  29. Never liked Liverpool, always liked Man U from Best, Law & Charlton days, but I found myself punching the air and cheering when Coutinho scored the winner today.

Really hope Liverpool win the league for Brendan Rodgers and Everton get fourth for Roberto Martinez. Young managers who try to get their teams to play expansive attacking football. The opposite of Mourinho’s anti-football or Moyes, Allardyce etc’s hoof ball tactics.
