Ebe Ambrose gets deadline day drama underway

390

Celtic’s first piece of incoming transfer business this evening was for Nigeria international central defender, Efe Ambrose, 23, who joins from Israeli club Ashod.  I’ve absolutely no recon on Efe but I can tell you he has been our primary defensive target for some time now.  There has been considerable research put into his capture, so there should be few surprises to Neil Lennon and his coaching staff.

Our last venture into Israel, to sign Beram Kayal, was an unqualified success.  If Efe adjusts to life at Celtic as well we will have added an excellent defender to the squad.

Welcome to Celtic, Efe.  Don’t think we’re finished yet.

petec – all that Celtic team were lacking was a wee bit of experience. They have obviously learned from last season, the way they strolled through those two cagey CL qualifiers.

Expect progression and improvement every season in future.

    We are on the up.

  5. Any chance of getting Falcao on loan until January, at least?

  7. SFTB,

The value of my divi was around £16 .

I am not an accountant, so iI will gladly stand corrected if i have got this wrong , and 25 years later, I still haven’t heard from the SQA on how I got on in my Higher maths ( which is rather remiss, given I bothered to turn up).

But , based upon the number of preference shares in issue ( from last accounts) and assuming there are no preferential preferential dividends it approximates to £540 k …..add in any half year dividends and over time ……

Glad that the racing tipster not coming to Celtic Park.

I too concluded that he’d be spending all his time here in The Shaun Maloney Suite.

  9. Jessica Ennis! Off topic somewhat – but a nice touch nevertheless for a lovely wee lassie!

The honour is usually reserved to great, late managers but the heptathlete’s London 2012 gold medal has inspired the club to make the big gesture.

Ennis and her family are big Blades fans and the newly-named part of Bramall Lane will be unveiled against Bournemouth in League One tomorrow.

‘It is wonderful and totally unexpected to have further recognition from within Sheffield and from the football club,’ she said.

‘I never expected when I started out in athletics in Sheffield all those years ago that I would have a football stand at Sheffield United named after me.’

Club owner Kevin McCabe said: ‘She is probably Sheffield’s biggest ever star. She’s uplifted everyone and brought pride to the city.

‘Jessica and her family are Unitedites and after discussions with them we all agreed that renaming the Bramall Lane stand after her would provide an additional sporting legacy from the London Games.’

Ennis has also been presented with the freedom of the city.

I think Efe Ambrose will be a class act, he looks phenomenal. As for the other two, Hélder Barbosa looks ultra skillful and almost Di Canio like although I’m not sure how he’d cope at Ross County away in December. As for Miku, he seems to be a 6 yard box kind of player. I said when we signed Juarez that South American players haven’t really done well in the SPL and I think we should steer clear of South American players. Remember, we aren’t playing football in the SPL, we’re playing Scottish football which is something that takes a lot of getting used to. Why not give McFadden a chance?

Comments like yours bemuse me. I know nothing about Miku – he could be good or he could be crap.

However, there seems to be a mentality that if…

    a) You’ve never heard of him

    b) He wants to sign for us

…then by definition, he must be useless.

I stress that I know zilch about Miku – but what I do know is that the Spanish league is full of players technically superior to anything you’ll find in Scotland. I actually watched Recreativo Huelva play Barcelona while I was on holiday a few years ago. Recreativo had a guy called Sisi playing for them – he was brilliant – reminded me of Lubo – but I’d never heard of him before or since.

How did you feel when we signed Victor Wanyama?

  13. Just been up CP to see if I could get a pic of yer man.

Nae luck, Instead I was going to get a bad name for standing with about 30 10 year olds and the tabloid media.

Anyway, according to Wiki his full name is Efetobore Ambrose Emuobo Duffy!!! Nigerian branch of the Duffys obviously.

Mind you it also says he is 43 years old.

Though to be fair, there’s not a lot of competition.

I’ve always found it puzzling that a city of that size has no distinctive identity.

This just in – Mexico’s not in South America. In fact, the distance in miles from CP to Mexico is the odds on McFadden coming to us. Hope that helps :-)
