Assuming Sir David Murray was telling the truth to Sky News in March (bear with me), there is a £10m gap between the sum recorded in Rangers accounts as paid to EBTs and the recipients revealed by the BBC last night.
It may be that the BBC didn’t receive information on some Rangers employees but we should also consider what other non-employees received payment from an Employee Benefit Trust, like Graeme Souness, who was employed by another club at the time.
What other clubs’ employees received a piece of that £10m? Was it only Blackburn Rovers? Did they know about it? Did an employee of another SPL club receive payment from Rangers Employee Benefit Trust?
What about journalists? The cosy relationship between football clubs and sports journalists has been one of the most incongruous features of this debacle.
What about officials? Yes, officials?
We know cash went out of the company, we know how much is unaccounted for, we just don’t know where it went. The already-established multi-association nature of these revelations (it involved a club registered by the Football Association in England) puts the matter beyond the immediate scope of the Scottish authorities, which is some comfort.
Many of the facts have been revealed but this will be a story that is still giving a decade from now. Before Rangers disappear into the ether, the authorities (football and other) must use all leverage possible to discover where that £10m went.
I didn’t see a penny. Did you?
I am still trying to digest the enormity of what was revealed last night. This could take a while.

Have read your post (it’s more article than post!)….and it’s very informative.
Some of what you raised has also been taxing my uninformed brain. So,thank you for bringing some clarity.
At the beginning of the doc. I noticed with interest that the ‘refs’ were mentioned, but no more was said;so I assumed it was an ‘in-house’ trailer for a future exposé.
I,too, was mystified by the absence of Minty & Moisty (the notorious double act!),so another assumption : they got bunged in the brown bag tradition.
I guess we must remember that Thug F.C. has been operating like organised crime for a very long time; so stuffed envelopes and bag-men will be no strangers to them.
And in the finest traditions of The Cosa Nostra and The O.O. ‘Omerta’ is the order of the day. Break it,and the repercussions will be dreadful to behold.
And like The Battered Bunnet says : the game is trashed. Sad.
And it most certainly will be if a NewCo slopes back into the spl.,virtually unsanctioned.
All this must not be swept under the orange rug. There is serious wrongdoing here.
But then,it merely reflects the corruption of the entire financial system.
We deserve better.
Paul67,
This just gets better by the minute. I can’t take it all in. Would it be beyond the bounds of possibility that some of the missing millions might have found its way to our refereeing fraternity? Wouldn’t that be something?? One can but hope the monies are traced. After all, they really should have gone to build our hospitals and schools and equip our forces.

Speaks volumes.
Why are we still waiting for the courts to relieve D&P from their post, evidence is made available of conflict of interest and duplicity in their claims of impartiallity, which alone calls into question their fit and proper status.
Hopefully my guess that HMRC are giving them enough rope is being played out.

I wonder if anyone in the mainstream media has read Silver Blaze by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle? If not they should because there they will find a very interesting question surrounding the curious incident of the dog in the nightime!
“The question is, my dear Watson, why did the Dog not bark?”
—-
I assume my dear BRTH the dog knew the person in the incident
Wondered myself why Smith was not in the EBT’s it did occur to me though that maybe they successfully shredded the electronic and paper trail on this occasion….extra protection neeeded for this VIP…?
I dont want to stir the smell. Parks buses???
Whilst we expect no assistance from the SFA or SPL, I think it is genuinely astounding that these organisations have not saw fit to put even a banal statement on their sites. One might have expected “The SPL/SFA note the contents of last nights BBC Scotland programme. All relevant matters raised will be fully investigated as soon as possible.”
Not fit for purpose
Paul67
Something that no-one has yet commented on – where did all the material that the BBC has come from? – was it extracted from Ibrox by a whistle-blowing employee? – did it come from a former director? Is there more with said person or else at the BBC?

Comprendé? Hun.
Raspberry – I don’t know about the self employed thing or how that would affect the payments. Haunners embdae?
ASonofDan – It wouldn’t be a denial, it would clarify that disclosure was not required under the registration rules as was implied by the BBC.
It would also put pressure on Rangers to comment specifically on the double (or non-disclosed 2nd) contracts matter rather than let D&P focus on the Ticketus/takeover claims made.
Again, I believe Celtic have no case answer.
Tombola
If any SPL Chairman can vote them in after watching that, then not only are we the most corrupt bigoted League in the world but I would say we are the most corrupt bigoted Country in the world!
Anyone see the pic of the Blue Knight joining the party of Tims returning from Norwich?! On the Rhebel Rhebel FB page I think
Looks fairly chuffed our new pal so he does:)

Places to be.
Trolls to hunt.
Huns to skelp.
See yes later!
Right. That’s the Prince Albert in place and the swelling has subsided.
Now where did I put Ms Lumley’s phone number?
BTW. Is a Jorg Albertz in any way similar to a Prince Albert?
Think Walter 2m and Sally 1m could account for some of this missing money.
Only idle conjecture.

I get what you are saying but the laptop loyal would then turn this into the main story and do a smoke & mirrors job on rangers.
Can we expect more clubs from the rest of Europe to lodge (pun intended) complaints with UEFA due to hun cheating in Europe?
UEFA have no choice but to act when the evidence is in their hands, and the SFA/SPL’s actions can be judged by comparison. Not that I want to interrupt the SFA/SPL while they continue to make their mistakes :))
10 years of European results to be looked at. Well, we no point in including season 2011-12, eh Sally.
One thing has been bugging me all day; what was Joanna Lumley doing at a metal convention?
Must go on to Amazon and get the Sapphire & Steel box set…
I bet Shug Keevins is relieved its pre-season and he doesn’t have to go out his depth to discuss ‘matters of corporate governance’.
Its alright Shug, its fine to call it cheating now.

From the hilarious Sporting Life…
Rangers are looking at Hearts’ Scottish Cup final hero Ian Black, according to a scout at the Ibrox club.
The midfielder, who was inspirational as Hibernian were defeated at Hampden Park last weekend, is a free agent after it was decided both parties would part company this summer.
And Rangers could look to take advantage if they succeed in having their ban on signing players lifted.
“Black’s an excellent, solid, intelligent player,” Rangers scout John Brown said in the Daily Record.
“He is a player who would enhance our squad and is on the list.”

He was able to do it because the Rangers shares were held by and MIH company (Murray Sports Group, I think). So essentially Rangers were a subdivision of MIH, owned by SDM (then latterly the bank).
Any irony in the fact that Murray and co appear to have Fluffed the advice from Baxendale?
