EDOUARD IN RACE FOR TOP AWARD

ODSONNE EDOUARD is in the running for the prestigious 2018 Golden Boy award just weeks after clinching his record £9million move to Celtic from Paris Saint-Germain.

The 20-year-old French striker is included in the 100-strong ‘longlist’ compiled by Italian sports newspaper Tuttosport.

Edouard scored 11 times including three strikes against Sevco Rangers – in his season-long loan spell at Parkhead and Brendan Rodgers is convinced he is one of the best young talents in Europe.

Hoops team mate Moussa Dembele was nominated for the award two years ago, but missed out to Bayern Munich’s Portuguese star Renato Sanches.

The Golden Boy award was created by Tuttosport in 2003 and is given to the Under-21 player judged to have enjoyed the best calendar year playing in European football. It is voted for by journalists.

Edouard’s former PSG team mate Kylian Mbappe, who scored twice to help his nation knock out Argentina from the World Cup at the weekend, won the award last season.
