Edouard pushed out Celtic transfer record

911

Celtic have activated a clause in their loan deal for Odsonne Edouard (20) with Paris Saint-Germain to sign the player on a four-year permanent contract.  The deal will cost the club an initial £4.5m but the add-ons which follow will soon make the deal the club’s highest transfer fee paid.

To give some perspective, Celtic last broke their transfer fee record with the £6m purchase of Neil Lennon in 2000.

Watching Odsonne develop during his loan period has been an education.  Brendan Rodgers put Moussa Dembele and Leigh Griffiths on the bench to allow Odsonne the game time he needed to grow.  His early-season rustiness was history by March, when he came off the bench when Celtic were down to 10 men at Ibrox, brushed aside what defences there was, to score a memorable winner.

The last player to match our record transfer fee was John Hartson in 2001.  Like John then, Odsonne is third choice striker, so the work does not stop here.

Great business, well done all concerned.

Bada Bing , I hope you put that bet on re Lichsteiner getting booked. He should have been booked 5 minutes ago for feigning injury. When the ref waved play on, he got ack on his feet.

I don’t want to fall out with you, but I didn’t know you hadn’t a sense of smell. The Parkhead Jungle was the worst place to stand, the place stunk of urine, and you can get pissed on, as I have been, it became the only place I wouldn’t go into after getting a washing down, my mammy complained about the smell when I got home after a game.

You may well be right but I can count on the fingers of 1 hand the number of times I sat in the old stand. I did go quite a few times to the old enclosure but mostly I stood in the Jungle (or the Hayshed, as my Dad has always called it) and for a long time around about where he stood: towards the back and near the middle.

I forgot to thank you for the bottle of Gin, haven’t tasted it yet But it looks a great bottle, with the white corded dress wrapped around it, I’ll probably have a sup on Saturday at our Gala day. Thanks again.

The bygone days of yore you yearn for were played out under the watch of a board who were the biggest thieves in Celtic history.

You seemed happy with your lot back then, so what’s happened?

Back the players on the pitch.

Whether anything will ever come in respect of justice remains to be seen, but regardless of that, leave us who wish to watch our team on the pitch to do just that whilst you stay outside the tent pishing in.

What point is there to your inane shite being spouted day in day out?

How are you? I tried phoning you so many times but clearly got an old number. I got your kind table invite ( through BT) but was unable to travel up.

Only 2 weeks more and I’m joining you in the land of retirement, at least temporarily.

I’ve been asked to start a new company up in Scotland for an American company so I’ll be on the search for premises for that after I’ve taken a break.

I’ve taken my membership out at Hamilton and Musselburgh so I’ll be dragging you along to a meeting soon enough.

Still got my seats at CP too so I’ll no doubt catch up with you there as well.

I hope you’re keeping ok and look forward to catching up.

  14. So far the World Cup has highlighted to me that there is too much fitba being played .

With the exception of Ronaldo , all the so called top players look jaded or injured… no spark.

No coincidence they all play in Europe and have probably played 55-60 games this season

    Indeed we did.

I stood in the same jungle as Kev for a long number of years.

Not one, not a single one, has stopped backing the team though many are unhappy with the board.

I respect his choice to stay away but I’m sick to the back teeth of him telling me and others to stay away from CP.

  16. PARKHEADCUMSALFORD.

It was touch and go until Fergus came along and saved the Day.

By the way, I stood in the Jungle in the section nearest the Rangers end, and it really did stink of piss.
