EDOUARD’S ‘BIG MESSAGE’

ODSONNE EDOUARD claims Celtic’s pulverising four-goal first-half performance at Pittodrie sends a warning message to any team hoping to derail the champions in their bid for nine in a row.

The 21-year-old French star put in a Man-of-the-Match display as the Hoops overwhelmed Aberdeen 4-0 following a devastating opening 45 minutes from which Derek McInnes’ men never recovered.

Edouard got the ball rolling with the opening goal – his 11th of the season – in the 10th minute and Jeremie Frimpong, with his first for the club, James Forrest and Mohamed Elyounoussi added the others in a one-sided encounter.

The on-fire Hoops hitman, speaking to BT Sport, said: “This is a big message. It was important for us to win this game.

“It was a good goal, so I’m very happy. We got three points and are top of the table, so it’s a good day.

“We are back on top and hopefully we can stay there.”

Edouard has now set his sights on St Mirren in the Premiership clash at Parkhead on Wednesday before thinking about taking on Hibs in the Betfred League Cup semi-final at Hampden on Saturday night.
