EDOUARD’S MESSAGE TO FANS

ODSONNE EDOUARD has delivered a message to Celtic fans to reassure them he is totally focused on the Hoops, despite the reported widespread interest elsewhere.

The Frenchman has struck 24 goals in a prolific season and his exploits have earned him the accolade of January Player of the Month which he received this afternoon.

Edouard has attracted the anticipated notice from across Europe from envious clubs looking for a goalscorer with the quality of the 22-year-old Parkhead hitman.

The forward, who cost the champions a club record £9million when he signed from Paris Saint-Germain in June 2018, told the Daily Record: “It’s very flattering, but I still have two years left on my contract at Celtic, I want to concentrate on that.”

Former Celtic goal hero Chris Sutton insisted the player is worth at least £40million, as CQN reported at the weekend.

Edouard will push the speculation behind him as he takes care of the business at hand and that will continue tomorrow night when Hearts visit Glasgow in a top v bottom Premiership confrontation.

Intriguingly, the flamboyant talisman has yet to score against the Tynecastle outfit in this campaign. Neil Lennon’s side won 3-1 at Parkhead earlier in the season with a strike from Callum McGregor and the other goals credited to Edinburgh defenders Christophe Berra and Craig Halkett.

Ryan Christie and Olivier Ntcham were the men on the spot when the Hoops won 2-0 in the capital in December.

Edouard will aim to rectify that situation tomorrow evening.
