I was slightly miffed at Neil Lennon’s TV comments on Efe Ambrose yesterday, “He can’t cross”, but on reflection, better Neil points out the player’s flaws to the nation than gives him a ringing endorsement. I’d a similar sentiment after Emilio Izaguirre’s dangerous looking forward step against France, which was never in danger of making contact with an opponent, when an ever-unhelpful commentator assured us Izzie, “has that in his locker”. Anyone who has watched him for four years will know he doesn’t.
Based purely on what’s been offered up on UK TV, neither player will be attracting an offer, which is good.
Both Honduras and Nigeria have a difficult task ahead if they are to remain in the tournament beyond the group stage. Fraser Forster’s England also have it all to do. It’s been great for the three of them to get to the World Cup but the sooner they’re home, uninjured, the better.

I read somewhere that Luis Suarez signed his new contract with LFC as he was so impressed with the fact that Brendan Rodgers learned Spanish to help him communicate better with the player.
Just in to say…..
I’m absolutely delighted for John Collins, Delighted.
I would say that JC was appointed by Ronny and, the
chemistry that I detect from these two guys is that, if the
if the executives try to be football coaches then, don’t be surprised
to see our two new management , three with big John Kennedy who,
looked to me to have the makings of the best Celtic CH since Ceaser
himself, yeah don’t be surprised if the managers put there ‘jaikits’ on at
the first sign of PLC puppet strings. Celtic managers being allowed to
manage, eh?
The folk who decry John Collins are, imho, probably the same types of fans
who thought that, Peter Grant was midfield warhorse. Only saying.
Another aside…..I wouldn’t be surprised if, Johnny Collins learned a thing or
two about his beloved Celtic from, the ‘greatest’ Celtic mind on the planet at the
minute. Step forward Mr Gerald McNee esquire.
We’ll see – off oot.

I hadn’t realised until now how unfit the players were and how so many of them were free loaders who were only kept on because of favouritism by a thankfully now discredited management team.
No one’s mentioned these facts before now.
Next season’s going to be brilliant because the players are all going to be super fit.

Again, a snide and sarcastic swipe at those who post here. Your contempt for Scotland, your love of the Union, your dislike of anything Scotland and your very acrimonious exchange with Paul a couple of years back where you refused an offer to meet him.
Are you even a Celtic Supporter? C’mon now, be honest.

Thankfully next season the players will be so fit we’ll be bound the win the champions league.
I have absolutely no doubt about it.
I don’t think there is much need to improve our fitness at the club.
Our superior fitness clearly showed in the champions league in recent years.
Ernie jeezo lighten up who was your choice for the new management team 2nd or 3rd ask.Do you wish our new management team all the best? Hail Hail Hebcelt
Good man Ernie – didn’t think you’d have the time with all the other stuff you’re sorting out for us.

‘Ernie jeezo lighten up who was your choice for the new management team 2nd or 3rd ask.’
No idea. I leave these matters to Peter Lawwell. I have complete faith in him.
‘Do you wish our new management team all the best?’
Absolutely. And I just wish we’d got rid of the previous lot sooner. It’s obvious now they were rubbish.
Hibs fans of my acquaintance say the rot set in at Easter Road after John Collins left.
It’s an interesting appointment to bring him in as no. 2. It has the potential to be great, given his credentials as a player and a coach. I can however understand why some folk may have one or two reservations. JC is ambitious and has never struck me as the type who would play second fiddle to anyone, let alone a younger, relatively unheralded manager.
Perhaps he sees himself as Celtic manager one day if Ronny does really well and gets the call from England or elsewhere. It’s certainly not in JC’s interests to be part of a failed project here.
On balance, I’m happy with it and I welcome JC back with open arms.
To those of you who watched Collins during his Celtic career.
Would you say he was an individualist or a team player?
If the latter, would you agree that being a team player or an individualist is part of a person’s character, no matter what environment he is in.
Surely there’s less chance of tension in a management team if both share the same philosophy.
Will there be a waiting list for tickets to the next Ball Lickers Erse?

I believe Fergus went to court because monaco are not in the eu therefore a bosman didn’t apply.
_________________________________________________________________________
If, Fergus hadn’t gotten rid of the ‘rebels’ as soon as he saw that they weren’t going to be, duped / turn into ass-lickers / sychophantic-sooks / bullying material, then he wouldn’t have needed to embarrass the Celtic support, whom he was supposed to be serving with this, classless episode. imho
Fergus should have been building the team – around – our best player, at that time who was none other than the, berated Johnny Collins. imho
Effffbeing humble – off oot.

“Since when did we have to know someone to give an opinion on here”
I saw a bloke today whom I have never seen before. He is quite obviously a really stingy guy and probably speaks ill of people behind their backs. He thinks very highly of himself but I am sure others don`t rate him. Or wouldn`t if they knew him. And just in case any of you are thinking I am jumping to conclusions, remember I saw the guy walking up the street and what I have said is just my opinion.

I have a better example of forming an opinion without knowing the person and I’m sure you do it all the time like the rest of us….:)
Seen this dude the other day on the telly telling us the war in Iraq was justified.
I thought he was wrong
Just my opinion of course

Cheers my friend.
Welcome John Collins, I hope you and Ronny are as successful as your predecessors. Who will be next on the Team, John Kennedy.
Keep the Faith!
Hail Hail!
Ernie
there were plenty of comments on here about our lack of speed and pressing the opposition -we were playing within our fitness levels -IMHO
kevjungle
with comments like that glad your off oot
Fergus was clear on his objectives when he took over
Strong points about JC
1) Will bring a new level of fitness to the team ( in other words the team were not fit previously)
Anymore bar he is handsome according to the ladies on here..:)
JC will succeed…..if he understands two things:
1. He is not the coach;
2. He is not there to be in competition with the players.
He failed as a manager. This is Ronny’s team. Ronny sets the tone. JC is there to help Ronny implement his vision.
Anything else will end in more failure.
I hope this succeeds.
thindimebhoy
You assessed and disagreed with his (the TV guy) opinion. You did not comment on his character .

PS Like your nom de blog. reminds me of New York where I once lived.
Off to watch Belgium.
Just caught the reference to the “hazing” of the guy from celtic tv.
What happened?

To those of you who watched Collins during his Celtic career.
Would you say he was an individualist or a team player?

I’d say that, John Collins was briliant for Celtic, in ‘spite’ of the cronyism/clique
already in the dressing room, namely – Paul McStay and, Peter Grant.
When TB(RIP) became our manager, one of his immediate issues that he had to address
was the, breaking-up of the failed midfield axis of McStay and Grant. He didn’t do it.
On the way to the LCSF v’s Aberdeen at the orcdome were, we got into the final, thanks
to a Brian O’Neil extra-time header – TB(RIP) said on the radio interview that he wished that he had – 10 Peter Grants in the team!!!
Form that moment on….my mind was made up – Tommy Burns didny have it as a manager.
And, so it proved.
Anyway, John Collins didny do cliques so – he was a maverick. imho
Anyway – cliques are for , sleekit, cowardly, two-faced folk who, need to hide in a crowd,
ye know, folk like freemasons, KOSC and all that kind of p#sh. imho
John Collins is a – ‘lone-wolf’ – thats what gets him by. Good for him.
Away this time,bye.
Mildly interesting fact – a superbly executed free kick by John Collins at Snake Mountain was the first goal ever scored by a professional footballer wearing Predator boots
Neil Lennon was being paid the best part of a million and walked away from his beloved Celtic because he had taken them as far as he could under major cost pressures If you believe some of the rumours) – definitely downsizing on the face of it
Let’s see if all this downsizing leads to less trophy(ies) next season or less entertaining football or less gametime for our promising youngsters or less pointless substitutions with a minute of extra time left.
That was a blow to Belgium … It was a bit of a kick in the fegulis

There can be no doubt that we’ll win more under the new management team and at far lower cost.
And the football will be better.
I just wish we’d done this earlier.
Ok Ernie
What’s the punchline or is that super irony?
John Collins brings it all on himself.
Good luck John and Ronny (not Ronnie or Roni)
So RD and JC as management team ,,, maybe big john Kennedy as coach
How about a place on the backroom team for Docs stalker ( Tommy Boyd )
An Independence blog infiltrated by football chat? Whodda thunk it?
Algeria will foul and cheat even more now,mon Belgium get the finger oot
I think Ronny and John’s first signing will be Grecian.
For their hair you understand.
I thought Pochetino was some kind of Mexican doll until he rolled up at Southampton and caught everyone’s eye. Now he is a Spur to greater things in North London
