The world can do without our condolences for a couple of hours until the family concerned have been able to contact all members.
These guidelines are scrupulously followed by the mainstream media in Scotland, who will hear of a footballer’s bereavement but hold the news – and prepare their reaction – until the family are ready.
For former-Celtic players, the club will usually be in touch with the family and release the news at the appropriate time. If you want to express your condolences, prepare your thoughts but hold until an official announcement.

However, it’s a bit naive to assume all nasty comments come from huns. We have idiots in our support and we should call it when we see it.
Terrible news about Big Billy’s health . My mother is a dementia sufferer and it really is a horrible condition. Like Billy, her communication is restricted so my sympathy for Billy and his family is even greater.
Heraghty’s had a Lisbon 20th anniversary night.
A recording of the game was on the television and Billy walked into Heraghty’s just as he was being presented with the cup on the screen. Billy was accompanied by Charlie Gallagher.
Gerry McNee was in that night, I was told he was a cousin of Charlie’s . A few minutes later, Billy noticed McNee and promptly left due to the latter’s presence . A few around me wanted McNee to leave but were persuaded not to give him any grief.
Charlie’s seat at Celtic Park is a few rows in front of mine.
He looked to have bother getting down the stairs before the Motherwell game. Last Saturday Charlie was using a walking stick . I hope his mobility issues are not the legacy of previous football injuries he suffered.

Unthinkable that the Hoops would be changed? – not so, the fans were very taken by the new kit. Spend 5 minuted on twitter and you’ll find out there are some amount of delinquents calling themselves Celtic fans. Only the other day one of them was abusing Leigh Griffiths and his children.

Can’t be bothered with Facebook for a variety of reasons. I have a twitter account, it’s a good tool for keeping up to speed with what’s happening in the world and is often a source for a good laugh. Type in ‘Celtic’ and if anythings happening you’ll know about it. That is what I think twitter was designed for. When you put your entire life on it you open yourself up to all kinds of vile abuse.
