With an eye on the Champions League game tomorrow night, Brendan Rodgers chose to mix it up against Livingston on Saturday. The risk paid off with Benjamin Nygren lifting the champions to a comfortable 3-0 win. An added benefit was the gametime given to those who needed it, while we got a good look at Hayato Inamura and Shin Yamada.
Nygren has now played three league games for Celtic, scored three goals, hit the crossbar and has one assist to his name. You also get the feeling that he is only just beginning to get a feel for his teammates. When his passes do not reach their desired destination, it is because he expected a run which did not happen.
Arne Engels’ motivation is clear to see. The Belgium international was first choice last season, but has been left on the bench for key games this term. His response against Livi was as good as the manager would have hoped for.
Elsewhere the big result was Tony Bloom-inspired Hearts dropping two points at home to Motherwell. That allowed Celtic to open up a 2 point gap at the top of the table. Early days but you would rather be 2 points ahead than behind.

The unemotional Ladbroke`s has Kairat at 4/1 tomorrow and us at 8/13.
To qualify, they have Kairat at 11/5 and us at 30/100.
Oh, and Club Brugge at 1/100 to qualify !!
Sorry, 1/150 !!!
Interesting difference in the way msm pundits behave in interviews with Brendan Rodgers and Russell Martin.
We get constant repetition of the same questions Brendan Rodgers has already answered in the interview while Martin gets an easy ride.
When he claimed Igamane “said he was injured” that seems to have just been accepted at face value.
No follow up of “did you know he was injured?” , “if you didn’t know, why not?” or “if you knew he was injured and unfit to play, why did you have him on the bench?”.
Surely a player refusing to play for a club when asked to go on as a sub is a major story and , as such, should have been followed up.
I don’t imagine it would have been dealt with in the same way had it been a Celtic player.

no . There was a period between Lawwell leaving and Nicholson as acting CEO and then permanent with the Rugby guy who fell foul of DD and was mutually consented.

Yes, I was thinking along those lines but felt I must have missed something as I felt it had the makings of a big (ish ) story.
But, as you said, Hun Negativity is nit favoured by the MSSM.
The Igamane event is a big story and any decent journalist would be all over it!
What happens to him now, what effect will his behaviour have on potential buyers, will it have a detrimental impact on his value, etc etc.
It’s not too difficult and they certainly plough those questions if he were a Celtic player 😡

I respect the brilliant financial work PL has done for Celtic he has given us a solid profitable business
BUT……….
Some unknown facts remain – unless you guys know the truth that the rest of us can only speculate
Why did BR leave first time around ? If you know let me know
My view – because he did not feel he was being supported by the Board (for the Board read PL)
So why did he come back ?
My view – because he was told (promised) that he would get the Boards full support (why else would he come back)
That brings us to today
Has BR been supported by the Board ?
My view – no we are back to where we were before he left last time
Celtic are weaker today than we were in January – this is not supporting the Manager
Our Board have gambled with a CL Qualifier
A potential loss of £30m (difference between CL and EL revenue)
As for PL and his involvement – I have always been worried about BRs position as long as PL is anywhere near the Board Room (regardless his job description) simply because I believe PL is not a BR fan
The removal of PLs Son from the Club cannot help
Not that Paul67 is an authority on the relationship but his relentless digs at BR suggest (IMHO) that Paul67s view mirrors PLs view
PL may have a diminished job title but (again IMHO) Nicholson will listen to him so will DD
Our Club has a strong backbone – Cash Players Manager Board Supporters
But there is a gap in the unity of all parts working together
This is not a good thing
I’m a big BR fan but my view is simple Support him or sack him
All in my humble opinion

Latest rumour….Fringe Lorient player. CF …promoted from ligue 2 …yet ANOTHER player who is cheap !!!!
Those odds from Ladbrokes seem way off I think the game tomorrow night is 50/50 at best, I haven’t a clue how odds are compiled though.
gotta share the fuck outta this folks. God help us!

“…….I believe PL is not a BR fan…
The removal of PLs Son from the Club cannot help…”
Hence the resentment. Brendan’s initial success took away a lot of the shine and spotlight from PL, suddenly there was a larger star shining more brightly and starting to call the shots which was influencing the fan base.

Yes Paul, effective Nygren,a good deal, but how long does it take us to get the guy at Celtic Park, ready to play. The Balikwisha saga is nothing but ridiculous.Chasing the guy since January, but only now,too late to help BR in the Qualifiers, and still a delay, getting him here, with a chance of playing on Sunday. His price was £4.5 million,2 months ago.Just WTF was the delay. He actually wanted to come, makes the humming and hawing worse.
We will see.

With respect BB,I don’t think you can say that for certain bout DMK DD,it does appear to confirm various narratives around,
HH
Come on guys, the Igamane story was all over the post-match discussions, Boyd, Sutton, McCoist, English, Leckie etc all slaughtered the player. Talk Radio, Daily Record, Scottish Sun etc etc all had it as a lead story.
Everyone to a man saying the same thing – that he should be heavily fined and punted (unless by some miracle he can prove he injured himself standing up in the dugout).
Italian officials tomorrow
😂 Gary…….
20 degrees at kick off light winds
P S. In the name of research, just checked both online Scottish tabloids and it is still the lead sports story.
BSR,
Outstanding at 12.51.
🙂🙂
Thanks DB

I understand what you are saying, but my point was aimed at the lack of scrutiny of the manager’s role in it all rather than the future of the player.
Did he know he was injured and picked him anyway, was there an injury and he didn’t know about it or is he so weak as a manager that the players think they can just do what they like?

The forecast i saw yesterday was a high of 30c @ 15.00 but down to 20c by kickoff time which should not be a problem (nor an excuse)

Around £20 million pounds he’s taken out of a business our size? Ridiculous money

This caught my eye BB.
Genuine question – who we talking about?
Fenian Ref,Nick Walsh,getting Pelter’s on FF.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
BTB,
Get back on this planet.
garygillespieshamstring- the narrative is they turned down an offer from Lille during the week and he wants to go there. He was also not happy to be on the bench and when he was told to warm up he just sauntered around. With the Huns needing goals, he was told to get ready to go on and he refused, said he was injured.
Martin is not responsible for the offer being turned down and the player is not injured, just another overhyped player throwing a hissy fit and demanding to be sold. Huns board entitled to say they want more for him, regardless of his true value.
Martin, I think, has few if any allies in the media. As far as I can tell, none of them think he is any good, pretty much all of them think he is a dead man walking and we are still in August. Their is a poll on FF asking whether he should be kept on if they beat Bruce and us next Sunday.
80 % say no, they want him gone ASAP.
Bruge, not Bruce 😀

*actually it was Standard Liege who did due to a sell on fee which had been previously agreed upon, but lets NOT let that get in the way of Celtic bashing, a national effin sport.
“cELTIC DIDNT DELAY HIS TRANSFER, HIS CLUB DID…..!
“actually it was Standard Liege who did”
Come off it! Surely those so critical of the running of multiple-champions Celtic cannot be wrong?
:-))
SSB groan in on in thirty minutes .
Should be good 🤣
that’s hot HJ – helluva an ask to go there and put in a performance but we can do it.

I won’t say thanks for sharing.
I will share with my labour MP who in line with most in Scotland (all I believe) has said nothing nor challenged Starmer over these horrors.
I cannot believe the labour party in power are simply falling in line with the USA and others behind Israel as they hasten and support genocide.
Whit …..are there two Fabio Silva’s 🫣🥴
The worlds gone mad !!
Wolves striker Silva closing in on Dortmund move
Wolves striker Fabio Silva is edging closer to a move to Borussia Dortmund.
The clubs have been in talks for some time, and Dortmund are about £4.3m (€5m) away from Wolves’ valuation.
The West Midlands club are looking for a deal totalling £26m (€30m).
