Embarrassment for the guys at Newco who have to sign up to this guff

518

PSG were wonderful last night. They served up a great night of European football as we witness what may be the end of the greatest team of all time.

Mark Warburton fired his opening salvo against Newco with a joint statement with Davie Weir and Frank McParland issued through the League Managers’ Association today:

“We would like to formally place on record, that at no stage did we resign from our positions at Rangers.

“It is a matter of surprise to us, and to the League Managers Association, which is advising all three of us, that despite its detailed public statements, the club has not answered key questions put to it by the LMA, in writing, requesting an explanation of why it suggested that we resigned from our positions.”

I’m cringing with embarrassment on behalf of the guys at Newco who have to sign up to this guff, Stewart Robertson in particular, who has titular hands on the wheel but must feel like a hostage to fortune. This is not how he ran things at Motherwell.

More lawyers’ fees, more reputational damage, less chance of a credible future.

    MWD,

I may be wrong, but I don’t think that any quantified figure has been attributed to any of them individually, re the recent “soft loans”.

All vague stuff about “continuing to finance the club,”etc.

Just . read the article about the rates. Is the huge increase in sevco rates due to them having to pay for their own water? :-)

  3. Been reading a bit on the darkside,

they claim the LMA have no standing in Scotland and

Sevco dont need to reply to them,

anyone know if this is the case?

I think the huns general ‘answerable to no one’ clause should cover it.

They’ll have their hands full introducing that lot to concepts such as accuracy and efficiency.

Greenman, my old man worked at Yarrows for a while after Turners was shut in 1967; he could tell a tale or two about the goings-on in the shipyards. It would look like fiction now!

*as a young lhad I worked in the head office of the nation’s largest homebuilder for a spell. There was a subsidised lunch every day, soup and a hot meal. On a Friday even though fish was on the menu they had tae open a tin of tomato soup for me and a wee woman on the switchboard.

The site management was a bastion of knuckle rubbing with one of the top men allegedly a “billy boy” in his youth.

However, all the grunt work was done by men either fae the mother country or sons of.

  8. Gordy,

I’m sure Barton was represented by PFA England. I don’t think it matters as they are essentially acting as a Union respecting the employee. If they had no duristiction they wouldn’t go public to with their representation.

  9. Glendalystonsils/WITS,

Yeah bhoys thanks for the laugh,

dont suppose you know the actual position though

TGM, my brother (a lurker and occasional poster on here) has just texted me to say he has been following Celtic for 62 years and the corruption has also been there. He also reminded me of Billy Connolly’s views on the Masonic influence in shipbuilding on the Clyde; he experienced it first hand at Yarrows as a welder.

*after the storm of ’68 I worked in John Brown’s doing storm damage repair. There were gaffers known as “hat men” as they wore bowler hats, what other organisation does the same.

Did you enjoy your day at The Irish Gold Cup on Sun.

I watched the whole card with a view to Cheltenham.

A few of Mullins horses seemed to go out like a light, obviously Bacardys won but I was wondering if the stable has a little virus.

Guys, to change the subject to something much more important, my wife has booked a trip to Donegal over the St Patrick’s weekend but according to some in the office here all the pubs shut in Ireland on the 17th. Can someone put my mind at rest that this is a windup ?

  13. What is the Stars on

The pubs are open on Patricks Day

    They close on Good Friday

Back in the 50s and 60s ( I think) they also closed on Patricks Day but not any more

  14. Genuine question…

Did Warburton resign from the club or the company?

    The correct answer is neither.

I hope Dave king is in charge for ever and ever and ever. :-)

There is no reason that the LMA would not be able to represent Scottish Managers.

seems like Simon Jordan – the guy who ran Crystal Palace into the ground – is trying to curry favour with the zombies by trashing the LMA/the Ipox3 ….

Indeed, Paul, an amazing and maybe seminal game.

PSG showed what you can do when you don’t stand back and admire them. Atletico have also had some success, but PSG had a bit of extra quality to go with it.

Credit also to the referee who wasn’t taken in by their antics.
