There was some misunderstanding that Charles ‘Emerald’ Green’s suggestion that he was hoping to “invest in the playing side right away” might not play well with major creditor HMRC. Capital introduced to the company after a CVA has nothing to do with a creditor’s assessment of the offer and, if anything, would offer comfort to HMRC that the company would be able to maintain future payments.
The comments are more of a challenge for the football authorities. The independent SFA appellant panel will today assess whether to increase, reduce of remove Rangers 12 month player registration embargo. Rangers narrative for the last two weeks is that this embargo could put them out of business. Apparently, they need to spend MORE money in future to ensure survival.
It remains to be seen if playing victim does them any good at appeal but Green has brushed this away, Rangers now plan to put a team on the field to win the league and reach the Champions League. Maybe not the wisest PR move.
John O’Hara, the Celtic secretary, had been unable to lure Kelly. Glass, however, was indefatigable and said he had ‘camped on his doorstep’. The 22-year-old was talked into taking part in Celtic’s first ever match, a 5-2 win over Rangers. ‘No Kelly, no Keltic’ became a catch phrase summary of the towering centre half’s significance. ‘I knew that if I could get Kelly, the rest would follow’, said Glass.

WAGS? Whyte Against Gers Survival?
tigertim on 16 May, 2012 at 14:10:
I know he is an understudy at Newcastle and that we have him on loan, but you claimed he is holding Celtic to ransom – can you back that up with any proof?
tigertim – I take the opposite view. You don’t persuade swithering people to stay by giving them ultimatums. You make them feel wanted instead. (thumbsup)
fritzsong -Yes, there are a lot of “ifs” about the future of the EPL. Surely the bubble can’t go on forever? At some point even the Arab oil sheikhs will be expecting some sort of return for their money. (thumbsup)
Dontbrattbakkinanger – Craig Whyte for President!
That would be a tough one:
I don’t agree with his tax dodging policy, but I do agree with his Rangers-liquidating policy…. (thumbsup)

The whole post was the CSA statement. I didn’t add anything to it
So England faced with having to pick between either a guy up on race crime charges or the alleged victims (of the race crime) brother decide to pick the guy up on charges (who btw they decided was unfit to be their Captain due to said charges)!!!!!
And they have a cheek to complain when fans of other countries racially abuse their players? Talk about double standards!!!

On the other hand if the best keeper available to us is only available on loan then shooting yourself in the foot because some people might view it as ‘amateurish’ to have a loan signing as 1st choise two seasons in a row isn’t actually doing what’s best for the club, is it?
===========================
WM, Foe a club have for the last three season have stated that the way forward would be to find young talent, bring them on and sell them, there is not much money to be made from a 2 year loan deal.
“If the best keeper available to us is only available on loan” is that because we did not want to spend money on a goalkeeper or because we ran out of time waiting for the loan goalkeeper making up his mind?
Foster only came after we played Stipe Pletikosa (Wolves I think) on trial, and after he apparently had a nightmare in a friendly. The season for Celtic had already started.
greenjedi – In this country people are innocent till proven guilty. (thumbsup)
England could have either made a fresh start, and not picked either of them, or they could have chosen RF ahead of JT, who almost everyone agrees is playing poorly, and managed to make A.Carroll look like Eusebio.
I expected more from ole Roy Hodgson.
The problem with the CSA is that they were the geniuses who refused to back attempts to oust the old board! The fact that they had comfy seats in the directors box from them had nothing to do with it obviously.
I feel the CSA commitee are guys who like the perks they get from their position. They don’t speak for any Celtic supporter except themselves, they can’t tell any fan what to do and they get put forward as the Fans leaders!!!!

The pre contract price was agreed with Newcastle last year £2 million.
The signing then comes down to personal terms.
So when would you like him to sign?
I would imagine he has been offered the maximum we can
a) afford
b) how much we rate him.
If he is holding out for another club then we are not using the time to sign another keeper, therefore he is holding us to ransom.

– > afraid you are wrong, and Tigertim is right on this one. Following your logic, we could have 11 loan signings – as they may be better players than anyone else we can get. However this approach fails on 2 fronts:
– It means we are unable to build a revenue stream by commanding transfer fees for players (as they aren’t ours to sell)
– it prevents consistency, as loan signings leave, thereby making it very difficult to build a team culture, develop the ‘club culture’ in the players, and build any form of dynasty on the field.
Tigertim is correct. For a position such as goalkeeper, the Club should be illustrating that it is a serious contender, by ensuring that we have a competent first choice in place and under contract. A loan signing is ok for a season (at a push) but 2 years in a row is starting to become a bit of a joke. To be scrabbling about for a keeper the third year in a row is an utter joke. We lost to Braga due to having to rely on a reserve team goalkeeper (who was beaten from 40m). That defeat alone cost the Club millions. It could have been avaoided by replacing Artur Boruc with a ‘like-for-like’ signing.

What a load of absolute *****!
Did you actually read their statement? You know the bit about canvassing opinion and even if you are not a member to get in touch with your view.
They speak for the guys who follow Celtic EVERYWHERE! I doubt that would apply to yourself…

Delighted you are not the manager of our team…
Merhaba Istanbulcelt, Nasilsiniz,Hosgeldiniz to CQN. Will be in your country on monday.

Correct, but why did the FA insist (so much so the manager resigned over it) that Terry was dropped as Captain if they feel he is innocent until proven guilty. Also I’d guess that most of us saw the video evidence, but hey since John Wilson didn’t assault Neil Lennon, Terry is as innocent right now as he is now!
BOBBY MURDOCH’S CURLED-UP WINKLEPICKERS – Kevin Bridges was right about Edinburgh. (thumbsup)
tigertim on 16 May, 2012 at 14:26:
Just supposition then.
greenjedi – I don’t know what the FA was thinking, but the whole episode has dragged on far too long. Also, the police have better things to do. This should be a football matter, not a criminal matter. (thumbsup)
PHILVIS RETURNS 1432
I dunno what Kevin said about it,but IMO,Edinburgh is a wonderful city, badly in need of a population transplant.

Obviously it’s not something anybody would advocate for the whole 1st 11. But as far as you’re concerned it’s better to take a lower quality player on a long-term contract that to take a better player as a temporary measure, who we could potentially sign permanently or until such time as a better permanent player is available. That’s fair enough.

Transplants surely are only a last resort.
Might be worth sending in/diverting some hun anti-bodies from Scotland’s other central organs first – fight fire with fire.
I hope Big Sami is going nowhere! We’ll need him for the Euro games. He will light the place up. Stokes?? Mmmmm Jon D?? yesssss

I am very biased against them since the events in last few years of the old boards regime, where imo they were concerned about themselves and not the club.
I know its mostly (if not all) new guys now, but I still think there very existence is no longer needed. They used to be the place to get tickets but now they run a social club. They and the Affiliation have been superceded by the Club, the CST and all the webites for organising all the things that they were formed for.
Euro 2012 —–
Sicilian bookies currently offering England at 14 -1.
Italy are 15 -1 .
Ireland are 80 -1 .
Some make Germany the favorites . Most go for Spain.
Giorgios Samaras will lead Greece to Euroglory.
In the Mowbray season Robbie Keane, Diomansy Kamara, Landry N’Guemo & Edson Braafheid were all on loan at the one time and indeed played often, ok No Braafheid, in the same team, at the end of the season they left, no transfre fees and a lost half season. There is limited value in loan deals and I don’t think there is any in a young goalkeeper.
I don’t dislike FF in fact I think he has improved well over the last two seasons but this at the moment is to his benefit and not to ours. So either he signs early doors or look elsewhere.
Steinreignedsupreme on 16 May, 2012 at 14:32
Don’t understand!
If you want debate lets debate,
You don’t think he is waiting for other offers?
Why do you think he is not signing?

I have it on good authority that the long delay in the B.T.C. judgement ,almost certainly means that they have lost the case as there would have been a quick judgement if they had won. The long delay is caused by the need to calculate details such as the value of all of the double contracts. Perhaps one of our legal experts might be able to confirm that.

No – I didn’t say that. There is a place for loan signings, but 3 successive pre seasons scrapping about for a position such as starting goalkeeper, is frankly unacceptable for a Club the size of Celtic.

Neil Lennon . . . .76.81%
Percentage of wins to starts under Neil Lennon (last 2 seasons), current squad:

For a giant FF is not very commanding and lacks communication skills.
Have to remember he is still developing- there were doubts abot Schmeichel when he signed for Manure but proved the doubters wrong.
I’d love to see the Holy Goalie back but if Lennon wants Forster I’ll trust his judgement. To prove his confidence in him it’d have to be a permanent deal or doubts will remain.
Some comments from Rangers Media re the appeal
If the ruling still goes against us i think the club should go to the high court, get an immediate injuction to stop the SFA|SPL from organising fixtures and competitions for next season. If we cannot compete neither should anyone till we get an fare ansd impartial decision from the high court.
We protest in the tens of thousands, doing whatever we can to bring the country to a halt.

Relegated Bolton will slash wage bill, says chairman Phil Gartside•
Gartside says club will cut staff wage bill in half
• ‘You’ve got to dust yourself off and get on with life’
Press Association guardian.co.uk,
The Bolton chairman Phil Gartside has revealed the newly-relegated side plan to halve their wage bill by the start of next season.
An 11-year stay in the Premier League ended for Bolton last Sunday and Gartside said he will be looking to the club’s academy to provide new talent, with several players set to leave Owen Coyle’s squad over the summer.
“If you look at our wage bill this year compared to what it was last year, allowing for a couple of people to come in, it will be up to 50% of what we paid out last year,” Gartside told the BBC.
“That flexibility is essential when you are going to lose £25m of revenue. You’ve got to dust yourself off and get on with life. It’s not the end of the world – we’ve got a plan and we’ll implement that plan.
“This was always going to be a year when we restructured the club. Owen put a plan together 18 months ago that he wanted to reduce the age of the squad because he felt there were some older players in the squad that were going to come to the end of what were great careers, and he wanted to put something in place that was sustainable.
“We’ve had an academy for over 10 years and we never produced a boy from the local area from the age of seven that came through to the first team, and that has changed this year.
“We have got two boys who have made their debuts in Joe Riley and Josh Vela, both exciting players capable of playing first-team football, and we have got five or six other boys in the academy who are just as good, who are on the fringe of breaking in. That is a great achievement
