Saturday night statements are not a sign things are running smoothly inside Celtic Park. It would not have been anyone’s first choice but the statement issued by the club was a reaction to events. As an explainer, it missed the target.
Celtic are not in any medium term risk of transgressing Uefa Financial Sustainability Regulations, in fact, we are the poster child of financial responsibility. Players can and do decide not to move to a club late in the window, clubs hold out for maximum price and agents do what agents do. Trying to bring hot talent to Scotland is difficult, we know. But……. That’s not why the transfer window objectives were not met (which I assume is the case, although the message was not entirely clear on that either).
The timing of the statement feels like a reaction to meetings with the supporter Associations and Affiliation on Friday, and a newspaper story earlier in the day (this is pure speculation on my part). I am sure the message from the supporter groups would have been: speak to the fans. The newspaper story that the manager shared some responsibility for the debacle could have been written by anyone paying attention. An empty statement followed.
Empty statements are often made because the organisation cannot (yet) tell the story. That’s not an excuse, even if the manager carries responsibility, he did not appoint himself and it’s not as though they didn’t know him (Swan and scorpion?).
What that story is, is free for you to speculate until we hear more. Empty statements will not endure until May, though. To lead people, they need to hear directly from you. After so many years of success, some discord at Celtic is like rain in the desert to some. Enjoy it. It will not last.

Poor Paul. He’s hurting so much he can’t even say Brendan’s name. Time is up.
“It was crazy” said Adam Idah last night.
Never turns out well when we pull too far ahead of our friends across the city. Never.
Hard enough trying to ride two horses at the same time, but when one horse is far bigger than the other horse it’s inevitable that you are going to fall off and injure yourself, which is what seems to be happening right now.
Not good enough I am afraid. The statement is nonsensical. Is it fair to say the last 5 transfer windows have been equally so?
Fix it and fix it now.
Not much joy about the place just now.
I’m trying to remember a Celtic team which had so little fire power. So few shots on goal in the last few games. It is not the Celtic way.
( hope the new wingers and Iheanacho can turn that round.
If this in fighting doesn’t stop, we are the only losers.
As for the board’s behaviour this weekend, God help us!
The briefing to the newspaper of choice said more than “the manager shared some responsibility for the debacle”
Above article seems to suggest, to me anyway, you’re suggesting it’s all Brendans fault but the poor board cant say more until he leaves and only the manner of the Saturday night drunken text was the issue, not the underlying issues re the poor transfer window.
Thank goodness, the vast majority of Celtic fans are not so easily influenced.
Tough week to manage the narrative
Dearie me
Manager at fault – tick
Years of success – tick
Players don’t want to come – tick
Agents are tricky – tick
I think you get the point as P67 turns the deflection fazors to malky…..(Taysiders in Space)
The newspaper article……ffs is that the response to the ultimate sell out of our staff via the people that hate us with a passion……..unbelievable
We are in a mess of our own making for sure and seem intent on continuing to dig in deeper – some humility would go a long way but they have no spine. No spine to admit they’ve made an arse of it and no spine to sack BR if thats who they contend is the source of the problem. A sad situation and it will not be this board that pulls us back from the trouble that seems to heading straight for us this season.
As other have said I think targeted protest is the order of the day. We should back the team fervently for all all league games pushing them on as best we can but IMHO we need to balance that with significant and obvious protest. The bhoycott of EL and home cup ties will have a significant impact on revenue and a very visible impact and will send a very strong message. I believe this is proportionate shows our backing is 100% for the team.
Understand some will disagree but can’t see another way that get the message across hard and fast.
Personally I am all in on the league but not concerned about the rest – would i sacrifice cups and EL for a season to be rid of the shitty board we have……..yes I would.
A reaction to a newspaper story they themselves likely gave to a newspaper hated by most Celtic fans? Aye right!
We should be watching that Swansea mob identify targets that aren’t even looking for a move, done and dusted in 48 hours.

Genuine question
Who would you replace the people you want to leave with ?

Thanks again for the mention of today’s ‘Great Lives’ subject on Radio 4 @ 3pm
For today’s guest is renowned Scottish composer and conductor Sir James MacMillan, who has chosen the life of Jock Stein as his ‘great life’, in discussion with Archie MacPherson. Some may not be aware that one of his compositions ‘The Berserking’ (which is a bit like the soundtrack of a Hitchcock movie) was inspired in part after he watched Celtic against Partisan Belgrade at Parkhead back in September 1987. Great little series and this should be a great episode. Should be available on BBC Sounds after it has first been broadcast.
How are all the Loons today then?
Let me fix this one for you Paulo…
‘As an explainer, the statement shat the bed and yet again blames it on the blankets.’
This public relations blunder from the men who put the jerks, in knee jerk reactions.
And PS Paul; no true Celtic fan is enjoying this completely unnecessary recruitment-related debacle.
Wee Brendan did it and ran away

Are you a hun? Not seen you on til the last week .
HH
The board don’t want Brendan ,there I named our manager,do you think Kennedy & Strachan will support him in the dugout.
This dinosaur of a board needs emptied.
There is even some on this site thatare wanting Brendan sacked ,
But they can’t tell you who they want to replace him ,you know who you are .
Celtic Mac
Spot on and thanks for the suggestion.
Moisey17
Also any ideas and plans for how the club / business goes forward ?

Aye must be, purely because I’m not wanting my club to be dragged down.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Dearie me.
The board know that out of the 53,000 season ticket holders only the Green Brigade will lift a finger to make a point.
The manager has every player focused on, ignoring the GB, before, during, and after every game, especially at the stupid lap around the stadium pish after every game, which only the GB respects, and stays after the whistle, whilst the so called “decent fans/hypocrites” have to fk off early to avoid the 2 hour long traffic jams courtesy of the gender bending, weirdos that dim Tims voted for.
[But…..shhhhhhhh….or you’ll hurt their wee feelings!]
BUT…..when the team and manager arrive at the GB section of the stadium in the after match, lap of the stadium, the players and manager walk 30 yards away from the GB, avoiding ALL eye contact, and wave above the GB to mainly empty seats. FFS!!!
[cant look the GB n the eyes is a bad and Celtiky sleekit look]
What kind of club is it?
PLC – Cant be trusted!
Management – Cant be trusted!
PLayers – Cant be trusted!
Majority of fans – Cant be trusted!
Who is the stand out organisation which can be trusted?
Let me put it another way.
How many Celtic supporters organisations called out the the PLC for putting old Rangers prices onto new Sevco tickets in 2016 after Sevco got promoted?
How many Celtic supporters blogs/websites called out the the PLC for putting old Rangers prices onto new Sevco tickets in 2016 after Sevco got promoted?
How many of these supporters groups/organisations/websites/blogs hid behind Auldheid etcs, Resolution12 ball burster, pretending to be holding the board to account?
How many websites blocked KEVJUNGLE, for being the only Tim in Timdom, for calling out the PLC for putting Rangers prices onto Sevco tickets, which cemented the same club lie, and let David Murray sleep safely in his bed at night, BUT…..blamed and punished the wrong people for the David Murray EBT Criminality????
How many so called Tims showed Solidarity to KEVJUNGLE, as he was smeared, jeerd, grassed, snitched, and banned from so called Celtic supporters blogs????
Conclusion – Timdom sucks and needs to be brought to an end, along with what is now a fake club, with a new name since 1994.
Celtic FC/PLC needs to be ended.
Apart from the formidable:
GEORGE GALLOWAY
THE LION’S ROAR
CANAMALAR
ERNIE LYNCH
Apart from these heroes only a handful have the integrity, or can be trusted to save it.
Sell off Celtic’s assets, flatten the stadium to be used as a New Housing complex for the boat people, all young men of fighting age, no women or children, so transition should be straight forward.
And then we’ll see just how sincere these virtue signalers really are!
Here we go again, hamster in a wheel….
Good afternoon all.
When are we storming the Bastille? 🤔😂
In the real world….the Workers Party of Britain, are going to “Requisition Donald Trump’s Golf Courses in Scotland – seize all three using Israeli settler tactics.”

This article reminds me that in a crisis such as this there are two kinds of smoke.
There is the smoke from the raging inferno itself. That’s a simply consequence of people – in this case the board – soaking everything in gasoline and then lighting the match.
Then there is the smoke from people trying to deflect from those who are lighting the fires. Or beating a tactical retreat. Or looking to cover themselves.
Anyone thinking this is a minor flurry of discontent has massively failed to read the room. Someone on another forum said “we’ve been here before.” Have we?
400 fan organisations have signed an open letter. The Association, the Affiliation, the Irish Association and dozens of fan media sites and hundreds of supporters buses endorse a message of no confidence. No confidence. That’s not “get your act together”, that’s “pack your boxes, you’re done.”
We’ve never been close to this in decades. This is a hinge moment.
Those votes of no confidence have destroyed this board’s mandate.
Without the mandate, they have no legitimacy.
Being re-elected every year by your pals doesn’t confer legitimacy. All their shareholding, all their money, doesn’t matter a damn. Their mandate comes from the fans. Their legitimacy comes from that mandate. With neither of them in place they’re hanging on by brute force.
See how well that ends.

________________________________________________________________________
On the executive roles,CEO, CFO etc I am not and Executive Head Hunter but i fancy if you engaged with one they would probably be able to give you an A4 list of appropriate candidates with the right qualifications and experience within 30 minutes of asking. Do that and we would already have conducted a better recruitment process than has been done recently.
The same head hunters would likely be able to the same for the NEDs or some of the existing NEDs could grow a backbone and do the job they are meant to do and not just nod to DD/PL.
I’m all for employing experts in their particular field with a proven track record and paying good money for that expertise – sorry if thats an unusual MO for you….

Hope James MacMillan wasn’t watching those games against FC Kairat….
God only knows what he might come up with….
Maybe a modern day version of the the J. Arthur Rank movie intro….with the guy hitting the gong…
