Energising offensively

1455

I’ve spoken to many Celtic fans over the last couple of days but I’ve not met one who would have preferred Roy Keane to be our manager instead of Ronny Deila.  Despite some impeccable references, Ronny is a largely unknown character, but there is an appreciation among the support that we need to come up with a plan to enable the club to over-achieve in Europe.

The man’s performance at the media conference was faultless.  It’s not important to quick-witted but his use of words like “energise” and “offensive” is promising.  Football is in the entertainment business and Ronny appears to appreciate the link between the way his team perform, not just their results, and the ultimate satisfaction supporters’ leave the ground with.

Our thanks to the Greenock Celtic Supporters Club for hosting last night’s CQN Lions fundraiser for the Celtic FC Foundation.  We were fortunate to be entertained by Willie Wallace, John Hughes and Bertie Auld, it was a fantastic night, full of laughs.

Special thanks to those who attended and helped raise over £2000 for the Foundation, and to those who promised to get involved with the Foundation.  The club is in good hands with supporters like those in Greenock last night.  Big shout to Joe and Mick for bringing a familiar old friend along.

Thank you for laying out the options as you see them.

The difficulty for me, though, is that it is not quite as black and white as you, or others, on both sides present it. That is, short term pain for me versus long term gain for my grandchild. My questions may lead you and others to think that I am motivated by my own self interest but here’s the thing: many grandparents nowadays, as grandparents have done throughout the ages, try their best to help their children and grandchildren in any way they can, for example, by providing child care to enable the parents to go to work, by doing the school run, by helping with the housework or by providing financial assistance. I provide all of this support within my family circle. It is a real worry to me that I might not be able to provide the current level of financial support to my family if my current situation changes dramatically due to a Yes vote. I don’t want to pay 5p more income tax and I need to be certain that an independent Scottish government will maintain the pension that I expect to reveive on attaining my 65th birthday – for the sake of my family. Please don’t think I am motivated by personal gain, I am motivated by what I see as being in the best interests of my family in the long and the short term.

Hello Cowiebhoy how are you my good friend

Well we have a new manager, the frozen one! and who from reading on here according to some he can already walk on water -)))) let the propaganda crew for and against Ronni battle away, how why Ronni arrived ? how why Neil left ? all academic, time to get behind the man 100%! club and supporters for Ronni, never seen the PR interviews, the big sell, apparently Ronni can talk the talk, means nothing at all, theres a saying in football a manager is at his strongest in the first season at a club, if Ronni truly believes in his footballing philosophy and managerial techniques then i hope he has the will and courage to put into practice what he believes in without fear of favour, be true to himself completely.

I am concerned regarding Europe and the quality of player required to achieve success at that level. as i believe we are actively downsizing in level of wages paid to top players, Ronni will need to deliver big time in matching his management ability with Celtics overall strategy of player recruitment to achieve success in Europe, i hope he delightfully surprises me

Looking forward to hopefully watching a new and exciting Celtic

    Take care pal

mea culpa-excellent post mate, maybe Doncaster will give Sevco any transfer shortfall ,via the new TV deal for the Championship, that’s ok isnt it ….?

  4. I can remember when we bought Pukki for 2.9m on last day of transfer window We baulked at paying over 5m for one striker so pukki it was

Then we were fed with the ” we don’t need a penalty box striker for CL but a pacey forward who can stretch defended in the CL” from Peter L via Paul 67. Even I was sold on that spin Then we saw him in action in Spl and Europe and we all said naw. Cheap option and he is p@sh. But then again just ask German Tim’s about pukki at Shalke and they said he was p@sh also

Taxi ASAP , maybe we can find some Mugs like shalke found us

Pukki. Bought for 500k euros as a project. Failed

Err but found Celtic who had done nothing in transfer window and sold him for 2.9m pounds. Success for Schalke Money down the drain for Celtic

  6. Nobody knows if Ernie has a vote except Ernie.

Nobody knows if Kojo has a vote. Except Kojo

Nobody knows if the swinging dick has a vote. Except the swinging dick.

Nobody knows who these people are. Nobody knows if in fact they are three seperate people. Nobody knows if they live in Scotland Vegas or cloud cuckoo land.

Nobody knows anything about them except what they themselves tell us.

The majority of posters on here have met or conversed with other posters in the real world.

TSD has been on here for a couple of years maybe while Kojo (and his coterie) and Ernie have been around a long long time.

I have no interest in who they really are but I am curious if anyone knows them..

Is there anyone out there who can say “Yes I have met him and yes he is a Celtic supporter”

    Anyone ???

  7. Martin compston was in braehead jdsports couple of weeks ago and I didn’t have the bottle to say hello,

But just looked like any other gallus Tim.

I don’t want to be accused of seeing MO’N as some kind of saint, so I didn’t mention him winning the League Cup and Scottish Cup as well that season.

Ronny Deila will obviously be working in a completely different financial and competitive environment, so there is no desire on my part to be setting any benchmarks. I wish him all the best, and a bit of luck with the draw in the CL qualifiers.

  9. Yes and Goodnight from me

Ps- I believe Gold Coast Tom, should now be home, need to watch out for a new poster tomorrow :-)

Wee Pukki just might be the unluckiest player we will witness

in a Celtic strip. The number of times when he was on for a goal

and something went wrong was unbelievable on his starts.

Think big Harald on a good day ,willing him to do the biz and

    kerplunk .poor poor Pukki.

Stick my name in the hat for the pool tourney, thanks

  13. Timhorton. Our CEO , we had zero strikers at start of season , oodles of money in the bank from vic and hooper , but paying the going rate for a striker is not our policy. Instead we through money at cheap projects up front that have never worked since Henrik

Drambowie. You make your own luck

Pukki stats over 5 years are awefull

  14. Saint stivs. Even worse mate. Now being fed that derk was a million and Balde was less than that

So what happened to vics and hoopers cash. 12.5 + 5.5m. Taking account cuts to previous teams, someone is not being honest here

did nl not scount any one of the players mentioned, if not park should be fired.

and if pl was involved in scounting he should go as well.

    we just don’t know.

  21. Saint stivs. Indeed looking forward to seeing this years accounts , it’s usually when PL gets caught out telling fibs like his ” everypenny brought in will be reinvested in the team “. Caught out after some of the Aiden money paid of some if the bank debt , which had a direct result on putting more money in his bank ”

Indeed his salary during the last year must be scrutinised and if he has benefited from keeping transfer money to show a +ve cash asset , then he should be sacked

  22. Macjay Aye SBS gives good football coverage , just wish it was a decent time so I could watch it in pub with a few beers

You echo many a thought going thru peoples minds at present

as regards assurances of stability, and continuity of pensions.

As with your previous post regarding the uncertainty of it all,

it seems rather hit and miss.I like you, am concerned only for the welfare

of the family, as many generations before us have been. With 5 grand kids

(2 due in august) my only concern is for them it seems each generation has a big

    decision on their plate. H.H.

Spot on mate, MON turned around a severe points deficit from the previous season, gave us a rare Treble, won seven in a row against that mob and had us all walking with our heads head high for a good few years. I love the wee man, whats not to love ?
