Energising offensively

1455

I’ve spoken to many Celtic fans over the last couple of days but I’ve not met one who would have preferred Roy Keane to be our manager instead of Ronny Deila.  Despite some impeccable references, Ronny is a largely unknown character, but there is an appreciation among the support that we need to come up with a plan to enable the club to over-achieve in Europe.

The man’s performance at the media conference was faultless.  It’s not important to quick-witted but his use of words like “energise” and “offensive” is promising.  Football is in the entertainment business and Ronny appears to appreciate the link between the way his team perform, not just their results, and the ultimate satisfaction supporters’ leave the ground with.

Our thanks to the Greenock Celtic Supporters Club for hosting last night’s CQN Lions fundraiser for the Celtic FC Foundation.  We were fortunate to be entertained by Willie Wallace, John Hughes and Bertie Auld, it was a fantastic night, full of laughs.

Special thanks to those who attended and helped raise over £2000 for the Foundation, and to those who promised to get involved with the Foundation.  The club is in good hands with supporters like those in Greenock last night.  Big shout to Joe and Mick for bringing a familiar old friend along.

  1. TSD mate I know you’re having a tough time of life but honestly you’d be amazed by the advancement in medical science. Please, please, don’t give up hope, maybe tomorrow they’ll find a cure and then you’ll be sociable again. You were not born that way.

I’m on your side, I love you, and ever time I see a sun baked dog turd I can’t help myself thinking about you. Hang in there.

Just a quick note to touch on a couple of developing points that would suggest that you may need to change the tone and focus of your articles regarding the 2014 Manager Hunt.

Any thoughts on the Combo narrative that is developing?

That is the number of strong pointers coming out that we were in the market for a ticket selling name (TSN) and a strong coach (SC).

    TSN = HL / RK.

SC = RD / SC, possibly RS as an outsider.

Do your sources have anything on this?

Do you care – will you be discussing this in the future?

Good morning from Nordrhein Westfalen with a predicted high of 32*C – phew!

Got back from Köln yesterday and thought I’d go on the ole CQN – I was unsure if I had stumbled on Conservative Quick News, Communist Quick News or Caledonian Quick News so did plenty of scrolling by.

Here is some Cologne Quick News, just to say the Frau and I had a great night out with CQN’s KolnCelt on Friday night at the Corkonian and later for a wee Italian. It was also a pleasure meeting KolnCelt’s mate Richard who is also a good Tim.

Ps for those who lurk we didn’t make it round to Barney Vallely’s, which is also a fine pub :-)

    Hail! Hail! PMTYH

In keeping with the style of the blog this morning can I say hello from the South Warwickshire bubble — heating up nicely, if a wee bit humid.

On the Cologne front — what takes you to the left bank of the Rhine?

In a previous life I used to come over to Merkenich every month.

Nice part of the world — not that I ever saw much of it.

Airport / City centre / plant — rinse and repeat.

madmitch, I’ve been going to Cologne for years as a “tourist” but this visit was to catch up with our oldest daughter’s best friend and our old next door neighbour from Scotland. She has recently moved from working with Primark, in Spain, for many years, to take up a post with the new Primark store in Cologne. I was telling KolnCelt that I was in the Corkonian the year it opened (1990), on my way back from supporting Scotland in Italia ’90.

As you say – a nice part of the world, very good city to visit.

  13. Meanwhile in eastern Ukraine the bombing and shelling of the civilian population continues – more-or less unreported by BBC and the msm. UK seems to be supporting the facist junta in Kiev.

100 days of non stop ‘independence’ propaganda coming at us from every conceivable media angle, omg, I’ll be doing all I can to block it out,

Personally, I dont trust the lets detach and breakaway mob, Scotland by and large is a Protestant country that tolerates Catholics, would they still tolerate us under Independence I wonder. Not convinced and therefore not keen on breaking away,

This will be my one and only post re independence, apologies for the intrusion as like most, far prefer the blog to focus on Celtic.

The amount of selective reporting in the media is shocking.

    BBC is almost establishment propaganda.

    Libya, Syria, Ukraine …

The list just gets longer and longer.

We are to be fed what they want us to know.

Thinking for yourself is off the agenda.

desertbhoy, that’s another advantage of living in and around this area is the number of places you can travel to by car, as well as train. I have driven to all the Benelux countries, France, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Slovenia, Hungary, Italy, Denmark and Austria and travelled to some of them by train. Something I would not have done when I still lived in Scotland/England.
