I’ve spoken to many Celtic fans over the last couple of days but I’ve not met one who would have preferred Roy Keane to be our manager instead of Ronny Deila. Despite some impeccable references, Ronny is a largely unknown character, but there is an appreciation among the support that we need to come up with a plan to enable the club to over-achieve in Europe.
The man’s performance at the media conference was faultless. It’s not important to quick-witted but his use of words like “energise” and “offensive” is promising. Football is in the entertainment business and Ronny appears to appreciate the link between the way his team perform, not just their results, and the ultimate satisfaction supporters’ leave the ground with.
Our thanks to the Greenock Celtic Supporters Club for hosting last night’s CQN Lions fundraiser for the Celtic FC Foundation. We were fortunate to be entertained by Willie Wallace, John Hughes and Bertie Auld, it was a fantastic night, full of laughs.
Special thanks to those who attended and helped raise over £2000 for the Foundation, and to those who promised to get involved with the Foundation. The club is in good hands with supporters like those in Greenock last night. Big shout to Joe and Mick for bringing a familiar old friend along.
Visit the CQN Bookstore to get Tommy Gemmell to sign your personal copy of his tome, All the Best.

The SFA selectors at that time chose the players, were of a fruity persuasion.

Guys
Any chance we could stop using the name ” Retard in
The ” Daily Retard ” its a personal thing maybe i”m a wee bit sensitive , but surely there can be another word used in its place
———————————————
marsapa….I’m with you on this, not right.
Incidentally, re SFA selection ‘criteria’ Wispy and Bertie also felt they were overlooked as they played for Celtic.
Tontine Tim
Auld Leo’s still a regular in the Toronto CSC.
There is a picture in the club with him and Sean Fallon standing beside an injured Charlie Tully’s bed………I’ll mention the centenary medal to him.

I’m with you both on this ….. There are standards we need to try to maintain…
What big Yogi called the SFA last night has the same initials as Date of Birth. Having done his Rev I. M. Jolly all night,he certainly came to life with this subject. He didn’t miss them neither did Wispy or Bertie.
Evening all.
Hope we’re all sunny in mood, although it isn’t the least bit sunny down here.
Like Paul67, I’ve spoken to quite a few supporters since our new manager was appointed. Every single one was favourable. He has offered us hope and he shares our vision of how the game should be played. Here’s hoping the players respond. They already have an example in their midst: Johanssen. He embodies how we should be playing: the old pass and move.
67Heaven,Marspapa,Voguepunter. Count me in as well,we are above that.

Time for dinner and a nice red wine. Goodnight all and enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Bobby Evans Superstar
Have you read all the books you won last night at the CQN night?
bobby evans superstar,
Cheers for the reply…It’s sad the way the lions were treated call up wise.
It was always a bugbear with me when I was younger, nowadays, I think their bigotry hurt them more than us…injury wise.
Still, it wasn’t fair on the Celtic players to be omitted from selection due to the team they played for.
Glad everyone had a grand time.HH
Bobby Evans Superstar,
Big Yogi was simply voicing what every Celt of that vintage knows only too well. How Bobby Murdoch and Bertie weren’t the fulcrum of the Scottish team is way beyond any rational explanation. (And I know Bobby had a lot of injuries.) I grew up being regaled by my Dad about Malcolm MacDonald and how brilliant he was. Now, he reckons Bobby and Bertie were the best ever.
Bobby Evans was indeed a superstar, imo.
Rumours on Twitter(I know, I know!) that Julian Schieber from Borussia Dortmund is currently having a medical prior to signing for us. This would be VERY exciting if true if only because he was my best ever signing on Football Manager scoring over 30 goals!
Thanks for the Yogi replies.
Of all the players who were ignored, I thought Bertie’s omission the most scandalous.
There wasn’t a better No.10, though they weren’t called that then, in Europe.
Not until Tommy Doherty’s short reign did our players receive appropriate recognition.
However, that didn’t last long.

Brilliant Matt and a reminder of what can make this place special. I hope you’re well and if you’re needing sorted for a small voyage to Easter Rd or any other such away haven give me a shout.
El Diego Bhoy, cheers. Am fine an hope you are.
Fencelt
Clearly he scores considerably more goals in Football Manager than he does in poor old football…
thomthetim @17.44,
You’re so so right about Celtic and shies. Even the Lions weren’t any good. Been a source of “shake the heid” for me so often as to how we seem to be unable to master that art no matter how good we are.
That will be sky sports on the Follow Follow banned list . Showing the GAA Hurling.
The boy Schriber listed on wiki as a Celtic player .
I know .

That’s them definetly banned after the national anthem played.

That would be a best seller.
The summer holidays are upon us but
let’s make sure we get as many supporters as possible
to Murrayfield for the CL qualifiers.
Let’s make a day of it.
Book up your seats now.
BTW will the Scottish parliament be open ?
It would seem that the current culture of taking shies that lead to loss of possesion goes way back to the 60s if not before.
Can it be eradicated or will RD shy away from the problem?
We’ll see.
aiden bhoy
The helmet would need to come with it!!!
Scheiber?
It can’t be us. It says Glasgow Celtic.
We are Celtic.
Must be another team.

Ronny Deila looks like a good bit of business by Celtic, and we look forward to watching it play out in the coming seasons.
Success over the long term is based on sustaining good practices, but in the short term much of it turns on luck…………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….
TBB Indeed luck does play a huge part. Mourinho was lucky to beat us in Seville. He was very lucky v Man U next year to go through in CL. If he hadn’t achieved success that year where might he be now?
Tony Mowbray was very unlucky. Ibrox in 2009 to go 7 points clear. Huge pressure on Cardigan. Honest mistake. Thomson denies a blatant penalty on Maloney, huns go up afield and score. They won 3-2. Couple of other honest mistakes that day too. Probably he most dishonest season in 100 years of dishonesty. When you’re under pressure players can freeze. We were cheated badly that year and so was big Tony. History could have been so different!
Yes luck can play an important part but so too can skill, confidence and tactical awareness.
I wish Ronny the very best of luck. He will have my full backing.
The old ‘shies’ conundrum, eh?
Real bugbear of mine, giving the ball (ie. possession) away so often – had to appologise more than once to surrounding fans for my expletives watching that.
When I was a coach at Eastercraigs we coached THREE shies into the Under-14’s/15’s/16’s and we used just those three shies every game at every level to keep possession. If it worked for kids why can’t it work for professional players.
Battered Bunnet…..I just knew how to get the best out of him :)

The Celtic Trust were talking about some sort of demonstration at Holyrood prior to one of the games at Murrayfield.
I’m sure if something’s arranged it’ll be posted on here.
