Energising offensively

1455

I’ve spoken to many Celtic fans over the last couple of days but I’ve not met one who would have preferred Roy Keane to be our manager instead of Ronny Deila.  Despite some impeccable references, Ronny is a largely unknown character, but there is an appreciation among the support that we need to come up with a plan to enable the club to over-achieve in Europe.

The man’s performance at the media conference was faultless.  It’s not important to quick-witted but his use of words like “energise” and “offensive” is promising.  Football is in the entertainment business and Ronny appears to appreciate the link between the way his team perform, not just their results, and the ultimate satisfaction supporters’ leave the ground with.

Our thanks to the Greenock Celtic Supporters Club for hosting last night’s CQN Lions fundraiser for the Celtic FC Foundation.  We were fortunate to be entertained by Willie Wallace, John Hughes and Bertie Auld, it was a fantastic night, full of laughs.

Special thanks to those who attended and helped raise over £2000 for the Foundation, and to those who promised to get involved with the Foundation.  The club is in good hands with supporters like those in Greenock last night.  Big shout to Joe and Mick for bringing a familiar old friend along.

    Ronny’s 4-3-3 formation.

Heard an interview with a Norwegian manager (English guy – didn’t catch his name) – was asked about it. Said not always so when playing away – said Ronny’s team tended to be more of a 4-2-3-1 set-up.

Yep.That was a set up that I did write I thought we would play away in Europe.I would have Efe and Biton as the two.Mathews VVD Lustig Izzy back four.Forrest Broony Johansen, with LG up front.

Efe has to be moved out of the back 4.I keep saying,he cant jump. His timing of the jump is so off sometimes he causes mayhem.Great taking the ball forward, fantastic athlete, would be a great foil for Biton. We have two great athletes in Mathews and Lustig. We have to use them.

All this is only my opinion, but I do think he will play this system away in Europe.

    CelticSephiroth….

    Excellent post.

Long before Tony Mowbray became our manager, I muttered aloud that I hope that guy never gets near the Celtic job.

Why? His struggling side had just got humped at Old Trafford. No real shame in that (at that time).

However, in his post match interview, he said that he would never change his attacking approach. ‘This is my philosophy. This is the way I play. It is about performances’.

I thought, this guy is going to get his team relegated. It isn’t about him. It is about making the changes needed to get points out of the next few games.

    They got relegated.

I hope that we have a manager who believes in observing, learning and adjusting.

    :::::::

I remember that and another one when back at Middlesborough, ‘ I build teams.’

Brooking no thought that he could be wrong.

    What a plonker, I thought.

  11. Re comments on corner kicks.

Showing my age but have never seen a Celt that has bettered Charlie Gallager in hitting a corner; Lubo included.

  12. For me supporting Celtic has always been

    about the supporters.

It’s not about the quantity it’s the quality.

I don;t want to see them ever again.

and if that means crowds of 20/30 thousand max

    so be it.

  13. As I said delighted at the appointment. II have no doubt that as previously stated on the blog today some players will have spoken to their agents. We can all recall a performance lacking in professionalism that cost us the league at Inverness. We as a club and supporters should expect and demand better. I personally found that loss to be the most frustrating and annoying I can remember. We will know very early on the players who are buying into the new culture and those who are not We should give the club credit for having the balls to try something different and fresh. We must look at the bigger picture and look to compete outside our small country which as we have shown in the past can be done.Just the thoughts of an occasional poster.

  15. Re corner kicks

Instead of playing out time , big billy sending the cavalry up in the dying minutes to score when we were already through and losing a goal putting us out of europe ;((

  16. This Honduras team are looking to play the game below a heart rate of 120 bpm. Very worrying.

Indeed it was the reason … And I quite like the amber nectar inside

Although I did but some bottles of Budweiser this week … Gold 475ml bottles . Special World Cup promotion which I just bought as they look nice

I did also buy a box of magners … As they are our shirt sponsors

  18. My friends in Celtic,

Watching Emilio Izaguirre play Engurland made me think if there are many British teams with more players in the World cup than us. Discounting English players playing for England.

Technically we have four, I think. :-

    Efe Ambrose

    Fraser Forster

    Giorgios Samaras

    Emilio Izaguirre
