ENGLISH EYES ON CELT

JONNY HAYES remains on Preston’s wish list as Deepdale boss Alex Neil plans for the new season in the Championship.

The Celtic winger, bought from Aberdeen last summer and then sidelined with a broken leg in December, is a loan target for the ex-Hamilton Accies gaffer.

Hayes has returned to full-time training, but could struggle for a place in Brendan Rodgers’ plans after the scintillating form of James Forrest last season, although a wing place has been freed up with the return of Patrick Roberts to Manchester City after his second loan period expired.

Lewis Morgan has also been brought in from St Mirren while Scott Sinclair might believe he has something to prove after he failed to match his form of the previous term.

Hayes made eight starts before his unfortunate injury in the 2-0 win over Dundee at Dens Park on Boxing Day.
