THE dates and kick-off times for Celtic’s Champions League first qualifying round against Bosnia double winners FK Sarajevo have been confirmed.

The opening away tie is on Tuesday, July 9 with a 7.45 start while the home goes ahead at Parkhead on Wednesday, July 17, also with a 7.45 kick-off.
If the Hoops, as expected, make progress they could face Estonians Nomme Kalju or Shkendija, of North Macedonia.

As CQN reported earlier in the week, Neil Lennon may turn to Jonny Hayes for advice if his side meet Shkendija.

The Republic of Ireland winger was part of the Aberdeen side which claimed a 1-1 Europa League draw in Tetovo in 2015 as Pittodrie boss Derek McInnes’ outfit overcame the Macedonians on away goals.

Celtic got their European adventure underway last season when they defeated Alashkert 3-0 in Armenia on July 10 with £10million man Odsonne Edouard scoring the club’s first competitive goal of the campaign just before the interval.

They won by the same scoreline at Parkhead a week later.
