EURO DRAW: RODGERS FACES EX-CELT

0

CELTIC will come against some familiar faces following the Europa League draw in Monaco this afternoon.

Brendan Rodgers’ side have home encounters against Roma, Sporting Braga, Sturm Graz and Utrecht and are on their travels to Feyenoord, Red Star Belgrade, Midtjylland and Bologna.

Dates for the games have yet to be confirmed.

The ballot has thrown up the opportunity for Gustaf Lagerbielke to return to Parkhead with the Portuguese team he joined in the summer after failing to impress in his two years at the champions.

Ironically, the Swedish international central defender’s best moment as a Celt came in a European tie when he headed in a late winner against Feyenoord in December 2023.

The Hoops will face the Dutch again in this competition when they travel to Rotterdam where they lost 2-1 in the Champions League opener in September earlier that year.

It was a night to forget for the visitors with Lagerbielke and Odin Thom, currently on loan at MLS side Los Angeles, sent off within minutes of each other.

And Celtic will also have to curb the midfield skills of Scotland international Lewis Ferguson who joined Bologna from Aberdeen three years ago.
