EURO SQUAD: YAMADA MISSES OUT

0

BRENDAN RODGERS has dropped striker Shin Yamada from his Europa League squad.

The £1.7million summer signing from J-League side Kawasaki Frontale has been overlooked after earning a place in the original Champions League group.

Rodgers has given the nod to Kelechi Iheanacho, the UEFA deadline-day signing after being freed by Sevilla, while there also places for other new Bhoys Benjamin Balikwisha and Sebastian Tounekti.

However, Yamada’s countryman, left-back Hayato Inamura, and on-loan Manchester City central defender Jahmui Simpson-Pusey have also been left on the sidelines.

NO WAY THROUGH…Shin Yamada is denied by Jack Butland in the 0-0 draw at Ibrox.

South Korean winger Yang Hyun-jun, who saw a late move to Birmingham City scuppered, is also in the squad.

The Hoops kick off their Europa League campaign with an encounter against Red Star Belgrade in the Serbian capital on Wednesday September 24.
