Europa failure would compound acute challenge for also-rans

1087

I’m not going to laugh at results against Luxembourgers or Lithuanians – it’s not so long since Gibraltarians bloodied the nose of a team who went on to become invincible treble winners. Scottish clubs have a long history of pitching up in June and July wholly unprepared for European football.

These results only retain the ability to concern if they are not resolved by remarkably improved performances. Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic grew in stature last summer until they became a competitive Champions League team in the autumn. Others may do the same this season.

What will be clear long before the lottery of the European play-off rounds, is where the gaping chasm exists in Scottish football: are Celtic our only team competitive in Europe, or is there at least one other?

Neither you nor I care who competes in the Europa League, but failure there if Celtic progress to the Champions League will compound an already acute challenge for the Scottish also-rans.

John Lennon understood the truth about Tricky Dickie Nixon long before the scribes , Pharisees or members of the press corps.

Long before Carl Bernstein and Bob Woodward……….

or Dustin Hoffman and Robert Redford,

An estimated 4,450 religious bigots have the right to completely disrupt normal traffic flow in the centre of Glasgow on a Saturday in Summer .

    They have one agenda only.

    Anti Catholicism.

An affront to a civilised society .

    Anywhere.

    Mate.

I left Glasgow 36 years ago.

I never left my affection for Glasgow and ALL its people.

Pains me to see that , in spite of the globe addressing all of these bigoted attitudes , Glasgow and obviously Prestonpans remain backwaters in what is a reasonable demand for decent religious tolerance .

    Grog is it ?

Currently quaffing a fine Aussie drop.

    Glaetzer Wallace.

The Orange Walk is a only an event for bigots to happily espouse their hatred for Catholics .

The trouble is as they have been denied taking their bigot parade through some areas of our city ,their appeal to the pond life that drag alongside them has waned add to that tighter restrictions on drinking in a public place and it was becoming a tad boring for the low IQ army .

Now that the OO are beginning to crunch knuckles in local politics again watch out for marches given the blue light to go through the gallowgate ,royston etc to make the peepil feel important again
