Europe a sideshow to league duty at Fir Park

1000

A Europa League tie against Rennes on Thursday would normally set midweek pulses racing but when Celtic have such a crucial game ahead in the fight for second place Neil Lennon has a major decision to make, does he rest players for the Motherwell game?

Sunday’s game at Fir Park is set to become one of the most important games of the season for Celtic and I’m sure Neil would prefer a clear midweek to prepare for it, but resting players, with the inherent increased chance of defeat, could further damage fragile morale.

Celtic need a confidence boosting win but they need heads focussed on beating Motherwell even more. The consequences of defeat on Thursday are unpleasant, but the consequences of defeat on Sunday are incalculable.

I didnt think we had two player brave enough to start a handbags at dawn.

I expect we’ll be missing two player now, with scratches and hands full of hair.

I heard Mossad blew up the World Trade Centre towers and that Captain Scarlet and Joe 90 were flying the planes.

    I heard that too!

I want to hear rumours about our club (positive and negative) and dont see what is so objectionable about detailing them on this blog with the condition that they are stated as what they are: unsubstantiated. FFs, the LTL print lies all the time about us and their favoured club to our/their detriment/favour.

Stop being so sensitive and dont exaggerate our blog’s influence over what is reported in the mainstream. Yes, some of us have made our mark eg Paul67, Phil Mac, RTC etc but not my goodself and, certainly not, bontybhoy.

My advice is to ignore him. Then watch him slip into retirement. But give him the attention he craves, his ego will ensure that his greatness lives on through this blog.

I did miss your question last week regarding my thoughts on the Famine song.

I think it is a great song, i love it, and i might add have sang the song on many occasions.

I would point out that first and foremost i am a big supporter of Glasgow Celtic the football team, and have been since the early 60s.

To me the famine song has nothing to do with football. I go to the games to watch my team as often as possible, and have no interest in the singing of songs which dont relate to football. Hope this answers your question.

  5. 2 things struck me today ….

if/when the hun gets points docked ….it is by far no “given” we will win the title we should i know but muderwell might see it out plus the hun might still have the squad to do it depending on when the “event” happens .

celtic should stop our players silly comments in the press victor had a lot to say in the paper today . it was stokes last week ..they should be doing there talking on the pitch

I thought the grouping together of Huns was called….a horde. Apparently it should be called an infestation.

  7. I had a text about five minutes ago saying that Lennon has been sacked, Martin is coming back and Messi is staying with Barca. I checked the Barca site and saw that the bold Lionel really is still there so the other two bits must be true as well. Wow.

Fights between teammates on the training ground or on the pitch can indeed be a sign that players care and are passionate about the cause.

Unfortunately where Celtic are concerned the good old Scottish media are likely to spin it in quite a different way e.g. Lenny has lost control of his players,

disharmony , disunity, blah, blah, blah.

We should not be doing anything to encourage it.

Sorry. had to come out of lurkdom to get that off my chest.

  9. rileyskeepingthefaith on

Any leegal eagles on that could give me a quick answer to settle an argunent with a hun? Is the huns tax case for the same reasons as arsenal?

    Thanks in advance

  10. Ten Men Won The League on

I can only think the reason behind so much Hun infestation, is the fact that they are beginning to realise that their teams unbeaten start to the season will all be in vain

I mean imagine how we would all feel if the Hoops had to start all over again in SFL Div 3?

Update on the Murray Park fiasco.

Latest reports are suggesting the first team squad to a man have made their feelings known re the grey cloud hanging over any player sustaining a serious injury should Rangers go in to administration.

Further reports have been made David Weir has been appointed spokesman for the entire first team squad and he has asked for urgent talks with management to address the concerns of the players.

  12. David Peter Deans on

I read with interest that Jos Hooiveld is doing a really good job at Southampton. I never got to see him play for the Bhoys mainly due to him being injured or out of favour.

Have we made a mistake with him, if he is in Southamptons team at the top of the Championship he cant be all bad. That league is much stronger than the SPL. As anybody seen him play for them, and how good is he like as a player.

  13. Ten men,

Arsenal choose to pay up about 3 years ago. Google HMRC EBT amnesty you will get a hit on grant Thorntons blog advocating it to an extent dated may this year. Sounds like even the huns lawyer is no longers advocating this approach.

“FFs, the LTL print lies all the time about us and their favoured club to our/their detriment/favour.”

You are right, they do. One of the main reasons their sales figures are dropping through the floor because most of us stopped reading their rubbish years ago.

I’m assuming you are based in Merseyside – an area that didn’t react very well to a newspaper printing lies about the fans of one of their clubs.

One of the reasons I started posting on here is because the blog is a positive place for Celtic fans to post on the whole. If I want negative stuff about Celtic I am spoiled for choice. The mainstream media have been providing that service all my life.

  15. I see that the Germans and now the Irish have got that Googybhoy feeling after his lottery win.

The stereotypical efficient economically sound Germans found a spare €55 BILLION last week. This week the Irish government have found €3 BILLION. So along with the banks being financially incompetent to a degree approaching corruption, along come the governments who coolly announce….”Oh look what I’ve found in my old jeans pocket”

Can’t agree with Paul on this one…….I remember when every game was a game that Celtic wanted to win, part of the problem with this squad is the lack of fire in the belly, I wonder if they truly realise how important it is that they show some good drive and spirit. I was lucky to go to the Rennes game and they are a smart outfit, however, besides their central midfielder, MVila still to show for them I didn’t think them world beaters and if anything they lacked DRIVE !!! It is important to win the game in Thursday with a worthwhile performance and one to make us proud.

Motherwell game needs to take care of itself………and it will. Lennie has the drive, time to share a little and raise the team’s and supporters expectations.

A big merci to Sixtaeseven for hosting my soujorn to Rennes it was soooperb…….good to meet up with your better half and the weans.

What is the difference between discussing this rumour and the one referring to fights at Lennoxtown?

Answer: It is ok to paint the huns in a negative light but we are forbidden to suggest anything controversial may be happening at our own club.

It’s laughable when you consider that most of the posts on this celtic blog by so-called celtic supporters are negative about celtic.

Selective censorship. That sounds like a great idea!
