Europe a sideshow to league duty at Fir Park

1000

A Europa League tie against Rennes on Thursday would normally set midweek pulses racing but when Celtic have such a crucial game ahead in the fight for second place Neil Lennon has a major decision to make, does he rest players for the Motherwell game?

Sunday’s game at Fir Park is set to become one of the most important games of the season for Celtic and I’m sure Neil would prefer a clear midweek to prepare for it, but resting players, with the inherent increased chance of defeat, could further damage fragile morale.

Celtic need a confidence boosting win but they need heads focussed on beating Motherwell even more. The consequences of defeat on Thursday are unpleasant, but the consequences of defeat on Sunday are incalculable.

Just popped in to see if the Mickbhoy bashing had stopped and OMG it’s got worse, give it a rest guys, you’re doing the blog no favours ganging up on the guy like that, quite pathetic imo.

Does anybody know if there is any truth in this story about Celtic looking to move to the Eriedivisie.

A football agent who calls himself @Agent_tk posted on twitter 2 days ago that Celtic were trying to move to Holland and that talks were quite advanced. He claims his source is a lawyer iinvolved in the talks.

He has just tweeted that the top 5 clubs in Holland are to have talks with their FA about bringing Celtic into their league.

Now this all may be rubbish but if Rangers were to go to the wall and by some jiggery pokery a newco end up back in the SPL as if nothing had happened it becomes quite an attractrive proposition.

Personally, I would love Celtic to play in a better league and if we can’t get into the epl maybe this is worth a shot.

No. I was posting from a bed in a ward, dosed up on morphine, unable to sleep, mind racing, in gartnavel after being transferred from A&E where ear nose and throat specialist helped save my life as well as affording my son the benefit of a dad. I’m sure if you so wished you’d be able to ascertain how serious an assault this was via asking one of your ex-colleagues for the info they will have on their PC’s. Try Stewart Street. Oh and mind ask about the other 2 people who had also been assaulted with same knife, one 5 minutes after me and another unknown. Oh and BTW. You picked the day to bring this up as I sit in a coffee shop across from my doctors surgery were the practice nurse hase just taken some blood to send away for a final HIV test.

Did you see the cretins post at 13:05 where he revelled in a well respected poster on this site nearly losing his life?

See the reply from MWD above and then see if you still want to stick up for a sick Hun imposter

Firstly, the essence of what you are saying about Celtic is right IMO.

How you are making these points is just wrong for CQN.

I think you are on the wrong blog for your style.

You might even be right about some CQNr’s being blinded by loyalty and taking the moral high ground too quickly. I am regularly subjected tobaccusations of being a Hun (water off a ducks back) but generally the exchanges even when savage are at a respectably level in terms of language and abuse.

I don’t think CQN should be the equivalent of the Gaurdian reading Celtic fan forum but neither should it become ‘gutter’ as that betrays the very reason for it’s being.. To off set the baloni we read in the Hun sympathetic Scottish press.

Presumably P67 could pull the rug on inappropriate posters but to his credit he let’s us self regulate.

Keep making your points (I do!) you don’t need to make pals (I don’t) but raise your game with the language and abusive patter .. Or find a site that better meets your level.

Crikey there are some mental fights going on in here today. Is there a full moon tonight?

  18. BT – Happy birthday there auld yin, I’m good for a pint the next time we meet:) By the way yer fairly catching up with me.

Weather decent in Toronto; sunny and about +12 today, whatever that is in old money. I’ll be hitting the links tomorrow as the season winds down here, maybe 2 or 3 weeks left before the snow comes and that’s it knacked until April.

“The games I did get I wasn’t fit and I didn’t have confidence or rhythm in my play. I wasn’t able to show anything to the fans.

“That wasn’t up to me, it was just how it went. I needed games and it’s nice to be given that opportunity at Southampton.”

The 28-year-old Dutchman is set to stay at St Mary’s until January but could reignite his Celtic career when he returns.

The Hoops have made a disappointing start to the Scottish Premier League season and are already 12 points adrift of leaders Rangers.

Hooiveld admits he is enjoying playing regular games but has not turned his back on Celtic in the long run.

  20. Guys, I’ve just had warning that there is a scam artist going around Glasgow.

If a man purporting to be a billionaire from Motherwell offers to buy your football club for £1, JUST SAY NO.

    He’s not a billionaire, he’s a very naughty boy.

Strathclyde Police have issued the following photofit of the supposed billionaire:

Agree with a lot of what you say, but Dermot Desmond cannot be balmed for our current squad of highly paid internationalists sitting behind Motherwell and just ahead of St Johnstone. In the wider context of the malaise that our club is in then yes, his input or lack of it, could be discussed. But more emphasis has to put on 3) in your reasons.

This notion that many of our posters have that Neil cannot be criticised or questioned no matter what is ludicrous. Honestly, the Huns know that they are going into administration and yet they are laughing at US.

Yes, he wasn’t backed fully by the board and it’s a joke that we didn’t sign a proper keeper but was McCoist signing superstars to win 11 out of 13 SPL games? No, he signed 2 decent centre halves and built a determination and team spirit. Anyone can see we don’t have that spirit and desire right now. SPL diddy teams come to Parkhead knowing they have nothing to fear.

Some of the rumours going around aren’t nice, but given the evidence on the park, to dismiss their veracity as beyond the realms of possibility is burrying one’s head in the sand. This is what the Huns want.

Our manager is 18months into the job and doesn’t even know his best centre back pairing, never mind his best XI.

    With regards to Naismith injury…

He is their key man in most games. They will feel his loss like we do with commons – no link from midfield to attack. They will miss the free kicks and pens he ‘wins’ them too.

For Thursday, definitely think of Rennes b4 Motherwell. A good result on thu gives us a big boost in confidence and let’s be honest, we cannot be worrying about playing Motherwell, we just can’t.

On thu I would like to see wanyama and rogne play again, and hopefully paddy gets a bit of game time.
