It transpired that the only team in Celtic’s Europa League group who avoided defeat in their domestic league game last weekend was Lazio, who rested several players in Europe and earned a point at Bologna.
Cluj lost at nearest rivals, Viitorul, Rennes lost at home to Stade Reims, while Celtic went down at Livingston. No excuse for a poor performance, but these European games sap mind and body.

I rarely agree with Sydney Tim but I do agree we need another first team Centre Forward as a matter of urgency..
Whilst I am always wary of the Rumour Industry, the old no smoke without fire saying is getting to me about Leigh. Sadly at this stage I don’t see him having a future at Celtic.
There are very encouraging whispers about Jonathon Afolabi but in my opinion it will be next season at the earliest before he becomes a factor.
The other matter that needs to be taken into account is the likelihood that Eddie could be offski in the Summer, we certainly don’t want to be scrambling around looking for Strikers pre 2020 Season.

If we are looking for somebody to be 4th striker, you are looking at the likes of Gary Hooper.

Also a bit fed up of hearing people wince when somebody has to play slightly out of position.
Last season we saw James Milner play at fullback and Fabinho play at CB for Liverpool.
Fernandinho plays at CB for City right now.

There are worrying rumours about Griff, at this stage I don’t expect him to come back. I sincerely hope I’m wrong on that one, in any case if we do buy a Striker it would be January so by that stage we should know whether Griff is in the equation or not. I am going on the basis that Griff is gone. If so I would see our Strikers Eddie & Bayo with Afalobi as a prospect, if Eddie got injured or if he goes next Summer which I think is very possible we would be in big trouble.
I’m talking about a guy who would be challenging Eddie not a back up 4th Striker.

That may change going forward and hopefully so, but he does not look first team ready when I have seen him.
I don’t know what to make of Griffalo and I ignore the rumours , but the longer he is out the more worry I have about him.

But if the euro hangover holds an element of truth then we must prepare accordingly for the upcoming Lazio-Aberdeen games.
If Lenny doesn’t have the squad to compete on two fronts then it’s clear where our priorities should lie. That might not be a very popular decision when Lazio walk out onto the field but three points at Pittodrie is far more important.

AD- Agree,I think we have the strongest squad, since I have watched Celtic. IMO we need to adapt our tactics and team to play on plastic pitches,no point in moaning about them,we need to play on them,we are constantly hustled off our game,and lose possession often in dangerous areas.Football can be a simple game,get 2 up front and launch it,might not be the Celtic way of playing but , we need to change. If anyone at Celtic FC thinks for one minute that we can win games when we do not compete they had better think again, coupled to biased refereeing we have dropped 5 points in 2 games and that is reality as it stands. Again this week multiples of players on international duty and not time to work and coach particulary at set pieces and taking dangerous corners. The league will be a contest I hope the penny has dropped.

Under Brendan our performances were inconsistent in European games but did well the weekend after.
We’ve actually done well up til now this season, it’s easy to forget we had 10 men for 70 minutes, it would be a victory against the odds if we had won

Bayo has done well when asked. Against Hearts he was a menace and lead the line well against an admittedly poor Partick Thistle.
Still, I’m not going to slaughter him for what happened coming off the bench in difficult situations against Rennes, Cluj or Livingston.
He’s a viable option in my view. The Griffiths rumours have also been debunked. He’s training at Lennoxtown today.
I believe we have 3 viable striking options and the potential of a 4th in Afolabi. I’m not against signing somebody in January but it would be dependent on Edouard’s future. If Eddy wants to go in the summer get his replacement in January.
All this “Get Brexit done” etc by Boris and his Cronies just reminds me of some previous Jobs that I was on, where there were CLEAR Health & Safety Issues that needed addressed……but some Bullying Gaffers/ Foremen would just say…” Feck sake…just Get the Job Done” !
