Euros, preseason and muscle atrophy

It’s all a bit cart before the horse announcing preseason fixtures without a manager or confirmed backroom team.  Plans need to be in place, though, for the Champions League qualifiers, which for Celtic, start on either 20 or 21 July against Rapid Vienna, Galatasaray or Midtjyland.

That date is a few days after the game against Preston and before the West Ham meeting.  The early graft will be done in three games on 7, 10 and 14 July at a training camp in Wales, with games against Charlton, Bristol City and TBC FC.  With a significant portion of the current squad involved in the Euros, preseason fitness should start higher than the normal baseline.

The Euros group stage ends on 23 June, a month before Champions League duty.  As we are forever saying, muscles maintain their strength for three weeks before measurable atrophy sets in, so we should be in good condition for that opening tie.  If we have a manager by then, of course!

    My favourite song ever

I was 14/15 when I heard that and thought jeso.

My other song around the the same time was long arm of the law

Kenny Rodgers was another one of my absolute heroes.

Here’s what will happen in the short term..

We’ll appoint EH and sell players for 60m ( 18m so far)

We will build the best most exciting team in years

We will dominate in Scotland for decades.

The sevvys won’t be able to sell players because they’re pish and overpriced and over paid.

    This year was a blip..

The new Ibrox club lose £2m a month now…. They can’t handle the running costs…. They are financial scum…. The lowest of the low…. They are debt-ridden tramps.

Watch the huns try to sell every player they have and fail miserably

  5. I think Ryan Fraser on loan and then permanent is a certainty…. Celtic daft and is pushing for the move.

  8. I see they are upgrading sections 118 and 119 ,it’s the restricted area we’re the Huns are located when they come to play us ,It’s a good view if that big Girder can be removed

You say you and your friends are “angry” – honest question – exactly what about, and what would need to happen to take away that anger?

We discussed the very question earlier on our WhatsApp group chat. Much of it relates to the historical stuff which as you say you are more able to….put to one side, let’s say.

Personally I’d say that’s to overlook.

My own thoughts are that to placate that anger, there needs to be some clear projection of who we are, where we’re going, how we’re proposing to get there and to publicly acknowledge our role in events over the past 10 years. I’m not daft enough though to think that will ever happen.

surely, no matter how we feel, or how unfair it is, most of the issues are now in the past.

No, because we are still living with the consequences and the anger which the conduct of the club custodians has evoked in many supporters. That Shower have set the agenda in putting that all in the past with the exception of their perceived sense of grievance and rage which has polluted Scotland over the past 3 months – for which I believe our conduct is considerably responsible.

Last season was a very important season because of 10iar – next season is even more so, for different reasons…would you agree?

Clearly the answer to that question is ‘yes’.

Villarreal keeper should’ve saved at least 3.

De Gea never got near any of them.

  12. lets all do the huddle on

    de gea should be embarrassed

all the other players – including the villarreal keeper – hit proper penalties

and he walks up and does a shitey sidefoot number
