‘EVERYONE’S BUZZING,’ FORREST

JUBILANT James Forrest scored his first goal against the Ibrox side as Celtic hit the High Fives at Parkhead this afternoon.

The Scotland international winger had fired blanks in the past, but made up for it with a sizzling solo run that shredded the visitors’ rearguard.

Forrest picked up the ball following a solid Dedryck Boyata tackle just before the interval with the champions already leading 2-0 with a double salvo from Odsonne Edouard.

He raced away from Jason Cummings, zipped into the box in a weaving run and then finished with a sublime drive wide of the helpless Jak Alnwick, the stand-in keeper who was the Govan side’s top performer.

Tom Rogic and Callum McGregor added to the scoreline as the fans celebrated in Paradise.

The champions now head off for a warm weather training camp this week and Forrest said: “It’s a great win.

“The boys put in a really great performance and the fans were incredible.

“When you win a league, it doesn’t matter who it’s against, you just want to get over the line.

“Everyone was buzzing today and you saw that from the start.”

Celtic staged an action replay of last season’s title party when they won 5-0 – the same scoreline as they achieved when they decimated Hearts at Tynecastle on April 2 2017 to clinch the first championship during Brendan Rodgers’ reign.
