EX-CELT INSISTS THERE’S ‘NO CHANCE’ FORREST WILL STAY AT HOOPS

KRIS COMMONS insists James Forrest will QUIT Celtic – if the big-money English clubs come on the scene.

The on-fire raider hit the headlines with his four-goal first-half flourish in the 6-0 hammering of St Johnstone in Perth yesterday.

And former Hoops fans’ favourite Commons reckons that sort of form will lead to someone making the Parkhead side an offer they can’t refuse.

The ex-Scotland international midfielder, now a media pundit, claimed: “He is 27 years old and signed a new four-year deal just a couple of weeks ago, which made it seem like he might be set to spend his whole career at Parkhead.

“But, if he carries on playing like he did on Sunday, there’s no chance that will happen.

“One of the big clubs in England would soon snap him up for a hefty transfer fee.”

Skipper Scott Brown has already tipped the winger to win the Player of the Year award this season and Commons remarked: “For Forrest, it shouldn’t be just the PFA award he’s targeting. It should be 20 goals, the league title and every individual accolade in the country.

“If he does that, there’s no chance he will still be at Celtic in four years’ time. He’ll be playing in the English Premier League.”

The ex-Celt added: “It doesn’t do him justice to say he scored four goals in one game.

“He got his first in the 15th minute and his last in the 45th – so he essentially banged in four in the space of half an hour.

“He was unplayable and, as a team, Celtic were mind-blowing during that first half. When they play like that, no team in the country can get near them.”
