FORMER Celtic defender Steven Pressley has been named as new Dundee manager.
The much-travelled 51-year-old gaffer left his role as Brentford’s player development boss last week and has now taken over from the sacked Tony Docherty.
Pressley has previous experience after stints at Falkirk, Coventry City, Fleetwood Town, Cypriot side Paphos and Carlisle United, as well as the Premier League club.
The Dens Park side, who finished third from bottom in the top flight last season, have also added David Longwell, previously with St Mirren, New York Red Bulls and Burnley, as their new technical supremo, according to a report in the Scottish Sun.
GREEN FOR GO…Steven Pressley during his 18-month Celtic career.
Pressley is currently in Asia on a family holiday, but will be jetting back to take charge of Dundee within the week.
The 32 times-capped Scotland international centre-back moved into management with Falkirk in 2010.
Pressley kicked off his playing career at Ibrox in 1990 before moving to Coventry City four years later. He returned to Scotland to sign for Dundee’s city rivals United in 1995 and then switched to Hearts three years later.
Gordon Strachan, who is the Dens Park club’s technical advisor, signed him for Celtic in 2006 and he spent 18 months at Parkhead.
He played nine games for Danish outfit Randers before having a brief spell at Falkirk before stepping up to manage the club.
