EX-CELT KAYAL IN BROKEN LEG SICKENER

1

FORMER Celtic midfielder Beram Kayal is expected to be sidelined for at least two months suffering a broken leg in a pre-season friendly with Brighton.

The Israeli international, 29, sustained a small fracture in his fibula against Atletico Madrid on Sunday and had surgery yesterday.

Kayal played on before he was replaced at half-time during the 3-2 defeat.

Boss Chris Hughton said: “We don’t expect any complications, but it’s bad news for us and for him.”

The newly-promoted outfit start the Premier League season against Manchester City at home on Saturday.

Kayal, who left the Hoops in January 2015, was out for two months last term with an ankle injury and his latest surgery is the eighth major op of his career.

Hughton added: “The operation went very well – we expect him to be out for a period of something like eight to 10 weeks.”
