FORMER Celtic midfielder Stuart Armstrong piled the misery on Sead Haksabanovic and his Stoke City team-mates with a sublime free-kick winner for Southampton last night.
The one-time Hoops fans’ favourite claimed the game’s only goal four minutes from the interval to seal three Championship points for the south-coast side who sit in tenth place, seven above the Potteries side.
Haksabanovic joined City on a season-long loan from the champions after querying on social media if he was appreciated at Parkhead.
TAKING THE FREEWAY…Stuart Armstrong curls in his superb free-kick winner against Stoke City.
The Sweden-born Montenegro international winger, who was recruited by Ange Postecoglou in a £1.7million switch from Rubin Kazan in August last year, was a loser in the battle with Armstrong, his new team’s fifth defeat in seven league games.
The Scotland international playmaker netted the contest’s solitary strike with a delicious curling right-foot deadball effort from outside the box which arced high past the clawing fingers of Mark Travers.
Haksabanovic, who spurned a good chance early in the encounter, was withdrawn in the 79th minute as the home side tried vainly to battle back.
