CHARLIE MULGREW has quit League One club Kelty Hearts – after just ELEVEN games as team boss.
The former Celtic and Scotland defender and his assistant Mark Kerr departed the Fife outfit by mutual agreement.
Mulgrew, who won five titles during his two spells at the Hoops, accepted his first managerial role when he agreed to take over the third-tier club in mid-January.
Unfortunately, the utility star who won 44 international caps, was unable to revive the struggling side and recorded just one win from his brief tenure.
HAPPY DAYS…Charlie Mulgrew celebrates after scoring against Rangers in Celtic’s 3-0 romp at Parkhead in April 2012. Gary Hooper prepares to join in.
The team are currently sitting seventh in the table, a mere four points above the relegation play-off position.
Thirty-nine-year-old Mulgrew took his first step into coaching when he was put in charge of the Hamilton Accies Under-18 side.
He also had a backroom post at former club Dundee United before taking over at Kelty.
The end was in sight for the rookie gaffer when the team lost 6-0 at home to already-relegated Dumbarton o Saturday.
A club statement said: “Kelty Hearts FC can confirm that manager, Charlie Mulgrew, has today tendered his resignation from the post, which has been accepted by the club board. We can also confirm that assistant manager, Mark Kerr, will leave the club by mutual agreement.
“Although only with the club for a short period, the board would like to place on record their recognition and thanks for the hard work Charlie and Mark have done on the club’s behalf during their tenure.
“Everyone at New Central Park would like to wish Charlie and Mark the very best of fortune for their future ventures.”
