FORMER Celtic star Ross Wallace has been released by Burnley after their relegation from the Premier League.
The 29-year-old left-sided operator is out of contract in the summer and will quit Turf Moor after five years.
Wallace, who moved from the Hoops for Sunderland in 2006, will head for the exit after the final game at Aston Villa this weekend, having made 165 appearances and scoring 13 goals for the club.
He said: “It’s a sad day for me to be leaving Burnley. I have thoroughly enjoyed five terrific years at the club and made many friends.

“I would like thank the manager, his staff, the players and the supporters for all their backing and I wish the club every success in the future.”

Wallace, who made one international appearance for Scotland against Japan in 2010, also had a two-year stint at Preston before joining Burnley.
