FORMER Celtic title-winner Barry Robson has been sacked as manager of Raith Rovers – after only 11 months in the job.
The axe fell of the 17 times-capped Scotland international midfielder during a disappointing run of form for the Championship outfit.
Robson, 47, was appointed the club’s gaffer at the end of December last year when the Fifers were in sixth position in the second tier, eight points outside the play-offs. They failed to achieve a top-four place by just two points.
They have won just one of their last six league games, a sequence that includes four defeats and sit sixth in the table, just one point adrift of Neil Lennon’s Dunfermline.

The club announced the parting of the ways in a brief statement, that read: “Raith Rovers Football Club can today announce that Barry Robson has been relieved of his duties as Manager.
“In addition, Assistant Manager Andy Kirk will leave his position with immediate effect.
“Our thanks go to both for their time and effort during their time with us.”
Robson’s appointment in Kirkcaldy came almost a year after he was axed by Aberdeen just eight months into a new two-year contract with the Pittodrie side languishing eighth in the Premiership table.
He enjoyed a Premiership success and a League Cup victory during his two-year stint at Celtic between 2008 and 2010.
