FORMER Celtic defender Mark Wilson has raided his old club for a THIRD loan deal.

The Partick Thistle boss has signed playmaker Sean McArdle on a season-long contract and the teenager joins his Hoops team-mates Josh Clarke and Ben McPherson on temporary transfers at the Championship team.

Wilson told the club’s website: “We’re delighted to add Sean to our squad. He’s a very talented young midfielder who has been playing regular Lowland League football for a couple of seasons now.

“He’s calm and composed on the ball and has that creativity in possession to go and create goals, either by scoring himself or by setting up his teammates.

ON THE BALL…Partick Thistle-bound Sean McArdle.

“We’ve already had Josh Clarke and Ben McPherson come in on loan from Celtic and make a real impact and I’m confident Sean can do similar.”

Eighteen-year-old McArdle is seen as one for the future by Brendan Rodgers who handed the classy middle of the park performer his senior debut as a substitute in the 3-1 league win over Hibs at Parkhead on May 10.

Four days later, the youngster made his second appearance when he came off the bench as the champions eased to a 5-1 victory over Aberdeen at Pittodrie.

Rodgers reckons McArdle will benefit greatly from game time at the Firhill club with little opportunity of a consistent run at Celtic with Callum McGregor, Reo Hatate, Benjamin Nygren, Arne Engels, Luke McCowan and Paulo Bernardo all contesting the three midfield positions.
