EX-CELTIC BOSS COMEBACK

FORMER Celtic boss Tony Mowbray is in talks to make an emotional return to West Brom.

The 61-year-old much-travelled gaffer is expected to be announced the Championship club’s new manager within 24 hours, according to Sky Sports.

Mowbray was in charge at The Hawthorns between 2006 and 2009 and led the side to promotion in 2008 before he moved to Parkhead in June 2009 as successor to Gordon Strachan.

PARADISE – FOR NINE MONTHS…Tony Mowbray after being named Celtic boss in June 2009.

Unfortunately for the one-time Hoops central defender, his return to Glasgow ended abruptly after only nine months when he was fired 24 hours following an embarrassing 4-0 loss to St Mirren in Paisley in March 2010.

Mowbray cost Celtic £2million in a compensation package when they lured him from the Midlands club.

Neil Lennon took over the role in a caretaker basis before being announced as permanent boss at the end of the campaign.

Mowbray has been out of work since February last year after stepping down at Birmingham City through ill health.

Chris Brunt has been in interim charge of the Brummies since Carlos Corberan left for Valencia on Christmas Eve.
